Between 1995 and 1999, the American car manufacturer Vector Aeromotive under parent company Megatech produced a sports car, the Vector M12, and only 14 examples left the factory. One of them, a 1996 Vector M12 is up for auction.
This Vector M12 is the fourth example produced and is finished in red. It is equipped with a fiberglass body, extended Lamborghini Diablo chassis, sloping nose blending into the profile of a deeply raked wraparound windshield, front chin spoiler, pop-up headlights, horizontally bisected side windows, scissor doors, triple intake scoops ahead of each rear wheel, and rear spoiler, and triple-vented dual exhaust outlets.
Inside, bucket seats are trimmed in tan leather with black piping, and color-matched upholstery covers the lower door panels, sills, and center console. In front of the driver is a leather-wrapped steering wheel and a digital odometer showing 4,418 miles. Additional equipment includes black suede dash and upper-door trim, tan carpeting, a gated shifter, power controls for the lower window panels, air conditioning, and a CD stereo.
Under the bonnet is a 5.7-liter Lamborghini V12 with factory 492 hp (367 kW) at 5,200 rpm and 425 lb-ft (576 Nm) of torque at 4,900 rpm. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a ZF five-speed manual gearbox mounted behind the engine. It reaches 60 mph in 4.8 seconds with a top speed of 304 km/h (189 mph). It is mounted on 18″ multipiece three-spoke alloy wheels wrapped in 235/40ZR18 front and 335/30ZR18 rear Pirelli P Zero Rosso tires.
In 2019, the front brake hoses were replaced, and the calipers were disassembled and cleaned. In the same year, the power steering pump and rack were rebuilt, the reservoir was replaced and replacement lines were fabricated. In 2023, a service was performed, which included fluid changes and replacement of the spark plugs. A custom exhaust system was installed under current ownership, and the removed exhaust system is included in the sale.
The car has a clean Carfax report that shows no accidents or other damage. It comes with service invoices from current ownership, an owner’s manual, Vector signage purchased on BaT in February 2023, its removed exhaust system, and a clean Florida title.
The auction ends on April 22 and the highest bid at the time of writing was $231,000 USD.
