While the current Civic Type R continues to break records on circuit tracks around the world in the class of front-wheel drive cars, the day is approaching when the new 2023 Honda Civic Type R will have its world premiere. It is the sixth generation of the most powerful Civic, and the presentation will take place on July 20.
In the latest video, Honda doesn’t reveal much about what is likely to be the last non-hybrid Civic R, but the sound of the engine should be more than enough to get the pulse racing for all sports car fans in this category.
The new Honda Civic Type R will be powered by an improved 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbo petrol engine, from the 10th generation, with more than 306 hp (228 kW) and 295 lb-ft (400 Nm). Power is transmitted to the front axle, which will be assisted by a limited differential lock, via a six-speed manual transmission.
We are sure that we will not have to wait long for the production Type R to show its capabilities on the famous German track Nürburgring Nordschleife, where it will try to repeat the result of the previous generation, the fastest front-wheel drive car.
Before unveiling the final product, leading people at Honda claim that the new Civic Type R will be the best so far. There is no reason not to trust them.
