BMW ICE engines

The EU recently decided on EURO 7 as part of the European Green Deal, but German BMW has found a solution for its ICE engines considering it too early to fully electrify the car.

Former BMW M department head Markus Flasch said in a statement to German media that the company has a technical solution for its turbocharged petrol engines. These engines are already installed in BMW M models, so by fitting into the announced Euro 7 standard, the engines will still be on offer.

The Bavarian car company has confirmed that it will have its in-line 6-cylinder turbo petrol engine, along with a larger and more powerful V8 option. Alignment with Euro 7 standards, which should take effect from 2025, will extend the life of ICE engines at least until 2030.

BMW has not yet revealed whether and when they will follow in the footsteps of Mercedes, in whose AMG department they have already decided to follow the path of partial electrification. This will compensate for the reduction in displacement and number of cylinders in its turbo petrol engines.

BMW M135i xDrive

The BMW 1 Series has not yet undergone full M treatment, but the closest to it is certainly the M135i xDrive. The car comes with a series of mechanical improvements three years after the appearance of the basic model.

The Volkswagen Golf R and Audi S3 are already on the market, the Mercedes-AMG is preparing an improved A35, and BMW is responding with a compact hatchback. This is not a redesign, or Life Cycle Impulse (LCI), but a subtle evolution of the most powerful version of the Series 1.

The BMW M135i xDrive is offered in Individual colors, and in the photos the car is painted in Sao Paulo yellow. Others such as Frozen Pure Gray and Frozen Orange are also available. Improved springs and shock absorbers improve the car’s behavior on the road, especially in corners. Engineers also adjusted the rear and steering lever brackets on the rear axle, and the front axle was given a new hydraulic bracket to attach the front suspension levers. The slope is increased to better absorb the forces created by passing through bends.

The BMW M135i xDrive is powered by a 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbo petrol engine with 302 hp (222 kW) and 332 lb-ft (450 Nm) of torque. The engine is paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission through which power is sent to all wheels. A limited-slip mechanical differential has been retained. It rides on 18-inch wheels, and a 19-inch set is optional.

1972 BMW 3.0 CSL

Racing cars from the Bavarian car manufacturer are highly desirable. Such a model, the BMW 3.0 CSL, will be sold at auction next weekend.

Produced in 1972, the car was imported to the United States from New Zealand. It is equipped with a larger front spoiler, side exhaust pipe ends and a rear spoiler.

The interior is black, with sports seats, a dashboard, a fire protection system and a protective cage. On the side are Perspex windows, an aluminum hood and trunk and a door, and it also has BBS rims with Hoosier Racing tires.

BMW originally produced the 3.0 CSL for European competitions, as one of 1,096 homologation examples. The auction model is painted in white with blue, black and red stripes, with the number 202 on both doors.

The BMW 3.0 CSL is powered by a 3.0-liter six-cylinder engine with 200 hp (147 kW) and 204 lb-ft (276 Nm) of torque. The engine is paired with a four-speed manual transmission. Reaches 60 mph (96 km / h) in 6.8 seconds with a top speed of 136 mph (219 km / h).
