1984 Sbarro Super Eight is for sale

At the 1984 Geneva Motor Show, the small Swiss high-performance replica and sports car company Sbarro unveiled a special edition car, the Sbarro Super Eight. The car was designed by company founder Franco Sbarro for Bernd Grohe, and is now for sale.

The car is powered by a 3.0-L Ferrari F106 V8 engine with a factory rated 240 hp, mated to a 5-speed manual transmission that sends power to the rear axle. The engine is equipped with dual overhead camshafts on each cylinder bank, four valves per cylinder, and Bosch fuel injection. It sits on 15″ multipiece BBS wheels wrapped in Yokohama AVS AV1-40 tires.

This unique red Sbarro Super Eight is based on a Ferrari 308 GTB whose frame was shortened before being fitted with a two-door fiberglass body, a nose panel that extends over the headlights, a chin spoiler, an offset cowl vent, flared fenders, straked intake vents ahead of each rear wheel, ghosted horizontal stripes along each B pillar, simulated straked vents behind the rear windows, and a rounded rear profile with a painted heckblende and quad upturned exhaust outlets. Ventilated disc brakes and double-wishbone independent suspension with coilover shock absorbers and anti-roll bars at front and rear, were taken from the Ferrari 308.

The interior is covered in brown leather with cloth inserts over the two-place seating and door panels. In front of the driver is a MOMO three-spoke steering wheel wrapped in brown leather and a five-digit odometer showing 30,011 km (~19k miles). Additional equipment includes color-keyed carpeting, wood door caps and dashboard accents, shoulder belts, a lockable console storage compartment, a gated shifter, power windows, and a Clarion component stereo system with a cassette player and an equalizer.

The auction ends on December 11th and the highest bid at the time of writing was $145,000 USD.

The best Grand Prix Collection is for sale

‘F1 Supremo’ or better known as Bernie Ecclestone, is a British businessman, motorsport executive and former racing driver. A great car enthusiast and collector, he owns one of the largest collections of F1 cars in the world, which is now for sale.

Bernie Ecclestone is the founder of the Formula One Group, and for years he collected and hid from the public some of the most incredible cars. The collection includes 69 cars, 17 of which are Ferraris, and one of them is the Dino 246, in which Phil Hill, Richie Ginther, Tony Brooks and Wolfgang von Trips raced. Mike Hawthorn won the championship in this car in 1958. There is also the Ferrari 275 F1, the first Ferrari to win an F1 race. Alberto Ascari was behind the wheel of this car in races in Italy and Germany. Also, there is the Ferrari F2002 from 2002, which was driven by Michael Schumacher and Rubens Barrichello and which recorded three victories.

“I have been collecting these cars for over 50 years, buying only the best examples. While many other collectors have opted for sports cars, my passion has always been Grand Prix and F1 cars. They are more important vehicles than any road car or any other type of racing vehicle, because they are the pinnacle of the sport. All the cars I have bought over the years have a fantastic history and are rare works of art. I love all my cars, but it is time to think about what will happen to them. them when I’m gone. That’s why I’ve decided to sell them. I want to know where they’ve ended up after I’m gone,” Ecclestone said.

The collection also includes 30 Brabham cars, which is to be expected since Ecclestone owned the Brabham F1 team from 1972 to 1985. During that time, he collected at least one example of every car that was built, including the 1981 car driven by Nelson Piquet, and the Brabham BT46B Fan Car driven by Niki Lauda at the 1978 Swedish Grand Prix.

Ecclestone has a truly impressive car collection, and perhaps one of the best in the world, with an estimated value of more than $300 million.

Carlos Sainz and Charles Leclerc tested the Ferrari F80

In October, Ferrari unveiled its most powerful car ever, the Ferrari F80. Only 799 units will be produced and a few days ago a video was published on Ferrari’s official YouTube channel showing two Formula 1 drivers, Carlos Sainz and Charles Leclerc, driving this car at the Fiorano track.

The car was covered in camouflage, so it is assumed that the video was created before the launch for advertising purposes. Both drivers were delighted with the car’s performance, saying they felt like they were driving a race car, a predictable race car. They liked the fact that you don’t have to steer a lot. “It’s extremely powerful. It’s close to F1,” said Carlos Sainz. “For me, it’s the best Ferrari I’ve ever driven,” added Charles Leclerc.

The Ferrari F80 is inspired by the Daytona models and the legendary F40, combined with aerodynamic solutions from Formula 1. It is equipped with an asymmetric monocoque chassis made of carbon fiber and composite materials while the roof is completely carbon, front S-Duct channels that create 450 kg of downforce only on the front axle at a speed of 250 km/h, an active wing and a massive 180 cm diffuser. Inside are a two-seat configuration and a driver-focused cockpit, which Ferrari says is the “1+” configuration.

When it comes to the powertrain, the F80 is powered by a V6 twin-turbo engine paired with three electric motors with a total power of 1,200 hp (882 kW). It accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in just 2.15 seconds with a top speed of more than 350 km/h (217 mph). Ignition and injection timing were modified and combustion chamber pressure was increased by 20 percent compared to the 296. Thanks to that, the V6 engine spins at a maximum of 9,000 rpm. The engine was mated to an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission, which was specially calibrated to handle the additional pressure.
