A few months ago, Ford unveiled the seventh generation of its legendary car, the Mustang Dark Horse, which will be offered in two body styles (Coupé and Cabrio). It is a car that brings over five decades of tradition. Now it is known how much power the sports car will have.
The new Mustang Dark Horse will be powered by a 5.0L Coyote V8 engine with 500 hp (368 kW) and 418 lb-ft (567 Nm) of torque. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a 6-speed manual or 10-speed automatic transmission. The start of sales is expected in the middle of next year.
In addition to the Dark Horse as the most powerful version, there is also a Mustang GT powered by a 5.0L Coyote V8 engine with 480 hp (353 kW), or 486 hp (357 kW) with an optional more open exhaust system. The more European-friendly upgraded 2.3-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder turbo gasoline engine with 315 hp (232 kW) and 350 lb-ft (475 Nm) of torque also remains on offer. The American car manufacturer promises excellent performance and lower fuel consumption.
“For decades, Mustang has competed against the most premium brands on the biggest world stages and won. We surprised everyone, and we’re going to surprise them again with a track-capable Mustang that puts a new level of performance, styling and American engineering in the hands of everyday customers who still want the thrill and excitement of a V8 sports car,” said Jim Farley, CEO of Ford Motor Company.
Also, the company announced that after 27 years, Ford is returning to the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 2024 with a new GT3 model.
