BMW i4 M50 Gran Coupé

MotoGP has a new Safety Car. It is an electric BMW i4 M50 Gran Coupé that will debut at the MotoE Championship race in Austria.

BMW will use this race to present this all-electric model, which is expected to hit the market in November. The car is painted in matte gray with fluorescent green graphics and a light strip on the roof. BMW’s M department has installed an improved chassis, a new braking system, and improved vehicle aerodynamics.

BMW M CEO, Markus Flasch said: “While the production version of the four-door Gran Coupé will hit the market in the autumn, our fans can enjoy its world premiere at the racetrack this summer. There could not be a more appropriate safety car for MotoE than the BMW i4 M50 – pure performance, fully-electric. We are looking forward to the premiere in Spielberg. ”

The new all-electric BMW i4 M50 Gran Coupé is powered by two electric motors. The engines are mounted on the front and rear axles, with a total power of 546 hp and 586 lb-ft (795 Nm) of torque. With all-wheel drive, the i4 M50 Gran Coupé reaches 62 mph in less than 4 seconds with a top speed of 139 mph (225 km / h). The car is equipped with an 83.9 kWh battery that provides a range of 317 miles (510 kilometers).

Speaking of price, the new BMW all-electric model will cost around $ 83,000 (70,000 euros).

BMW i4 With 523 HP

Although BMW was expected to reveal its new electric car in mid-summer, the i4 arrived earlier.

Without enough data, the production version looks almost identical to the Concept i4. The exterior looks reveal a connection to the next-generation 4 Series Gran Coupe.

Rear doors with redesigned handles not only change the look of the side profile but also improve aerodynamics. This solution is not reserved only for the electric model, because the spy photos also show that there are 4 Series Gran Coupe.

BMW keeps a lot of it a secret for now, but said the i4 will produce 523 hp (M Performance). It will reach 62 mph (100 km / h) in 4 seconds and thanks to the battery it will be able to reach 590 km per WLTP or 483 km per EPA.

More details will be known soon.
