2024 GranTurismo Folgore first fully electric Maserati

While we wait for the presentation of the Maserati Grecale at the end of the month, which was supposed to arrive last year, Maserati published photos of its first electric car, the GranTurismo Folgore. It is part of the Italian company’s plan to electrify all its models by the end of the decade.

According to what can be seen in the photos, Maserati has not given up on its distinctive design. Although there is not much information, the published photos show the well-known appearance of the front grille and aerodynamic three-spoke rim.

The Maserati GranTurismo Folgore will be based on the new platform and will be powered by three electric motors that will produce a total of 750 hp (559 kW). It will reach 62 mph in less than 3 seconds with a top speed of 190 mph (306 km / h) and will be equipped with an 800-volt battery.

Maserati’s plan is to electrify all its cars by the end of the decade. In addition to these models, which will arrive on the market in 2023, Maserati will electrify the Quattroporte, Levante and MC20 models by 2025. The Maserati GranTurismo Folgore should hit the market in 2024.

2022 Maserati Grecale announced for late March

Although the 2022 Maserati Grecale was supposed to be unveiled last year, which did not happen due to well-known reasons for the lack of microchips, it will happen at the end of March this year. It will be the second Maserati crossover, which will find its place below the Levante model.

Maserati announced the arrival of Grecale with teasers that reveal the design of this car. During testing, Grecale was covered in camouflage, which did not hide much. The front grille with the Maserati logo is something that is standard on every Maserati model. There are also large front brake discs and calipers. The shape of the rear of the vehicle with four exhaust pipes is also reminiscent of a larger Levante SUV.

When it comes to the powertrain, there is no information. It is assumed that it could use a 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged V6 engine with 621 hp (457 kW) and 538 lb-ft (730 Nm) of torque, from the Maserati MC20. Some rumors say it could also be a 2.9-liter V6 engine with 505 hp (371 kW) and 443 lb-ft (600 Nm) of torque, from the Alfa Romeo Stelvio Quadrifoglio. Also, Maserati intends to offer an electric version, but so far there is no confirmation.

2023 Maserati Grecale

Although Maserati announced a new model for November, the expansion of the offer will wait until next year. It is a Maserati Grecale that is currently being tested on the cold roads of Sweden.

There is not enough information about the car yet. Although the car is wrapped in camouflage, the spy pictures show that it is equipped with slightly larger tires with larger brake calipers, and that it has received a new exhaust system with quad-adjacent tailpipes.

The car should be Maserati’s answer to competitors, most notably the Porsche Macan GTS. It is not known which engine will be used, but some suggest that it could be a 3.0-liter 6-cylinder twin-turbo engine with 621 hp (457 kW) at 7,500 rpm and 538 lb-ft (730 Nm) of torque.

Is the delay of Maserati Grecale caused by the global shortage of chips? It’s possible. One thing is for sure, an exciting year is ahead of us, at least when it comes to Maserati.
