Mercedes Vision EQXX with a range of 746 miles

Earlier this year, Mercedes revealed its new electric concept, the Vision EQXX, which was claimed to have a range of 600 miles (1,000 km). Now this model has set a new record with a range of 746 miles (1,202 km).

Mercedes has equipped the EQXX with air curtains, covers and moving elements including a rear diffuser that pulls out at higher speeds, Bridgestone tires with ultra-low rolling resistance. Inside, there’s an 8K resolution 120.6cm screen with a navigation system with 3D graphics showing the city from a “satellite perspective” up to 10 feet high.

The Mercedes Vision EQXX is powered by a single electric motor with 245 hp (180 kW). The journey started from Stuttgart and after two days, 14 hours and 30 minutes the car reached the famous British Silverstone circuit. The EQXX consumed an average of 8.3 kWh per 100 kilometers, and the average speed was 52 mph (83 km / h). The car is equipped with Mercedes batteries that allowed an additional 11 laps (64.8 kilometers) at a speed of 87 mph (140 km / h).

The car is equipped with 30 percent lighter batteries than those found in the Mercedes EQS models. The battery capacity is not known, and Mercedes announced that it is less than 100 kWh. The range was also helped by a 117-cell solar panel which provides energy for the HVAC system (which worked for more than eight hours), lights and infotainment system.

Mercedes Vision EQXX with a range of more than 600 miles

Earlier this year, Mercedes revealed its new electric concept, the Vision EQXX, which was claimed to have a range of 600 miles (1,000 km). Now this has been confirmed after the car crossed from Sindelfingen, through the Swiss Alps and northern Italy, to the destination Cassis on the Cote d’Azur, with a single charge.

Before departure, the car’s charger cover was sealed. The trip started in cold and rainy conditions, and there was a driving supervision team in the vehicle. In the other, the accompanying vehicle, was an independent expert from TÜV Süd.

How much aerodynamics with a minimum frontal surface of the vehicle affects the reduction of air resistance and thus energy consumption, Mercedes has shown by crossing 1,008 kilometers with a record low average consumption of 8.7 kWh / 100 kilometers. After 11 hours and 32 minutes of driving, the battery showed “only” 15 percent of capacity, which is enough for the vehicle to cover an additional 140 km.

The Vision EQXX is powered by an electric motor that develops 201 hp, and the drive is so efficient that 95 percent of the energy ends up on wheels. The car also has a 117-cell solar panel, which provides energy for the HVAC system, lights and infotainment system. A separate lithium-iron-phosphate battery stores energy and, in ideal conditions, can offer 25 kilometers of extra range.

Mercedes Vision EQXX With 600 + Mile Range

The Vision EQXX is a new Mercedes electric concept that will have a range of over 600 miles (1,000 km), which is enough to cross from Berlin to Paris with a single charge.

The EQXX is a compact sedan 463 cm long, while its wheelbase is 280 cm. For comparison, the G-Class is 475 cm long, while the length of its wheelbase is 286.51 cm. The EQXX is also quite light by electric vehicle standards, weighing 1,750 kg, which means it is only slightly heavier than the C300 sedan, which weighs 1,675 kg.

It is unknown at this time when the production version will be released.
