Mercedes-AMG is developing a new sports car

Mercedes has revealed its plans for the future, which include 17 new electric models, as well as the return of some models with combustion engines. Also, in a few months they will show the concept of a super sports car.

According to Autocar, the new AMG super sports car will be based on the Vision One-Eleven concept, and will be equipped with axial motors that should develop up to 500 hp and 800 Nm of maximum torque. The electric motors will be manufactured by Yasa, which also supplies Lamborghini with components for the Temerario and Revuelto. which should develop up to 500 hp and 800 Nm of maximum torque.

It will also be equipped with a new generation of solid-state batteries that, thanks to their higher energy density, allow for a longer range. These batteries are installed in the new EQS, which has covered 1,000 km on a single charge.

Some rumors say that the new AMG model will be launched by the end of this year or the beginning of 2026, while the production version should arrive in 2027.

2023 Mercedes Vision One-Eleven

In 1969, Mercedes presented the experimental car C 111, with a fiberglass body shell and a mid-mounted three-rotor direct fuel injected Wankel engine. Only 16 examples were produced, and three months ago the German car manufacturer unveiled a car that resembles this model, the Mercedes Vision One-Eleven. The car is currently exhibited at the IAA Mobility, Munich.

Mercedes has always been ahead of its time when it comes to design, and that’s the case with this retro-style car, with its sleek body and gullwing doors. The new front pixelated mask with LEDs that mimic the C111’s fog lights, massive front spoiler, massive side skirts, massive rear diffuser and massive wheels, leave a powerful impression at first sight.

The interior is done in a combination of recycled polyester and orange leather with a few chrome accessories. It reflects a paradigm shift from a sports car to an autonomous electric vehicle in the super sports car segment and unites two completely different states of existence. It is equipped with two low-slung seats, a dashboard with a full-width LED pixel display and a small touch screen connected to the steering column. There is also an augmented-reality headset that turns the entire interior into the user interface, with 3D controls, icons, and maps for navigation.

The Mercedes Vision One-Eleven is powered by four YASA electric motors with a total power of around 2,000 hp (1,471 kW). It is equipped with a new battery with high performance cylindrical cells with liquid cooling.

Mercedes Vision One-Eleven

Mercedes recently unveiled the Vision One-Eleven concept model, which many believe will not enter production, at least not anytime soon. It is a reminder of Mercedes’ experimental prototype C111, which the German company made half a century ago in 16 copies for the purposes of testing various engine technologies and technical solutions.

Experimental C111 prototypes were powered by a variety of mid-mounted gasoline and diesel engines, including a Wankel engine. The most powerful version was powered by a 4.8-liter V8 turbo gasoline engine with 500 hp (373 kW), and at the Nardò Ring in 1979, the car achieved a speed of 403.78 km/h (250.958 mph) and a lap time of 1 minute and 56.67 seconds.

Two decades later, at the 1991 Frankfurt Motor Show, Mercedes unveiled a production sports car, the C112. However, despite a large number of interested parties, the company abandoned the project.

For now, there is not enough information about this car, but it is known that the two-seater will be powered by four YASA electric motors with a total power of about 2,000 hp (1,471 kW).
