2006 Ferrari 248 F1 driven by Michael Schumacher is up for sale

One of the best Formula 1 drivers ever, Michael Schumacher, does not appear in public after the accident, and there is little information that reveals anything about his condition. He retired in 2006 from the sport, although he later made a brief return with Mercedes from 2010 to 2012. Now, one of the last cars he drove in his final season, the 2006 Ferrari 248 F1, is up for auction.

This 248 F1 is one of the eight cars that Ferrari produced for the 2006 season. It was used for the first time at the Imola Circuit, and with this car Schumacher won pole position and achieved his first of a total of five that season (San Marino, European, United States, French, and German Grands Prix) and three other places (Spain, Great Britain and Canada). After the Hungarian Grand Prix, the car was retired.

It is powered by a new 90-degree Type-056 2.4-liter V8 engine with around 730 hp (537 kW) mated to a seven-speed gearbox. It was the first V8 unit to power a Ferrari Grand Prix car since the Championship-winning 158 of 1964.

The car was bought from Ferrari by a private collector in December 2007 and remains in his collection to this day. It is in excellent condition and comes with a Ferrari Classiche certificate and was exhibited at the Petersen Automotive Museum in Los Angeles in 2017 as part of the “Seeing Red: 70 years of Ferrari” exhibition. It was also used in several private tests on the Fiorano circuit.

This unquestionably one of the most successful Michael Schumacher-raced Ferraris of all-time, will be offered at an auction that will take place on Thursday, November 14, 2024.

Michael Schumacher’s 2005 Ferrari F430 Spider for sale

Michael Schumacher is one of the most successful and, according to many, the best Formula 1 driver in history. But, since 2013 when he suffered a severe brain injury in a skiing accident, his life is now different. During his career he became the owner of some of the best sports cars and one of them, the 2005 Ferrari F430 Spider, which he gave to his father is for sale.

This Ferrari F430 Spider is finished red over Cuoio leather. It is powered by a 4.3L V8 engine with 490 hp (360 kW) and 343 lb-ft (465 Nm) of torque. The car was designed by Pininfarina with aerodynamic simulation programs used for Formula 1 cars. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a 6-speed automatic transmission. It reaches 62 mph (100 km/h) in 4.1 seconds with a top speed of 315 km/h (196 mph). It has only 29,301 kilometers on the odometer.

Michael’s current condition is unknown to the public. Sometimes some information leaks out, but it is unverified. Former Ferrari Formula 1 team boss Jean Todt sometimes visits him at his family home in Switzerland, once saying: “Michael is here, so I don’t miss him. But he’s just not what he used to be. He’s different and he’s being looked after his wife and children. They protect him.”

This is not the first car to be sold that is related to Schumacher. The 1998 Ferrari F300, the Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG and the 2003 Formula 1 car (14 million euros) were sold before it.

Mick Schumacher in Michael Schumacher’s F1 car at the GFS

German Formula 1 driver Mick Schumacher at the Goodwood Festival of Speed drove two Mercedes cars in the suit of his father, seven-time Formula 1 champion Michael Schumacher.

At the end of the last F1 season, Mick burned the tires of his car because it was his last race for the Haas team. The people on the team didn’t like it, so they asked him to stop doing it. “Sorry Mick, can you stop doing that, seriously? I’m sorry, but we just can’t do that. Sorry,” was the message to Schumacher from his pit.

Mick was a little sarcastic saying, “Okay. I love you too.”

After that, Mercedes offered him the position of reserve driver, which he accepted. Team boss Toto Wolff hasn’t forgotten what Haas did to Mick, offering him to drive his father’s car at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. Mercedes posted a photo on social media with the caption: “Ok Mick, you can make donuts” and added a fire emoticon to represent burning tires.
