2022 Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS with beautiful engine sound

Four months ago, Porsche introduced the 718 Cayman GT4 RS as the fastest and most powerful Porsche Cayman. After showing his performance at the Nürburgring Nordschleife and GP Ice Race in Austria, now Matt Farah from the YouTube channel TheSmokingTire has shown how the engine sounds. He did not talk about driving impressions because members of the press agreed not to talk about driving impressions until March 22. Let’s enjoy the sound of the 2022 Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS.

It is made of lightweight materials, which reduces the weight by 28 lbs compared to the GT4 model on which it is based. It is equipped with improved adjustable suspension, and optimized adaptive aerodynamics.

The Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS is powered by a 4.0-liter flat six engine with 493 hp (368 kW) and 331 lb-ft (449 Nm) of torque. With a weight of 3,227-pound (1,464-kilogram) it reaches 62 mph in 3.4 seconds with a top speed of 196 mph (316 km / h). Power is transmitted to the rear wheels via a seven-speed double – clutch automatic transmission (PDK).

The Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS uses synthetic fuels, so Porsche has started building a factory for the production of eFuels. The factory will be built in Chile and is expected to produce around 130,000 liters of eFuels by the end of this year, which Porsche will primarily use in motorsport racing.

Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS On Ice

Late last year, Porsche introduced the fastest and most powerful Cayman, the Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS. After showing its potential at the Nürburgring Nordschleife, this model did the same at the recently held GP Ice Race in Austria.

It is made of lightweight materials, which reduces the weight by 28 lbs compared to the GT4 model on which it is based. It is equipped with improved adjustable suspension, and optimized adaptive aerodynamics.

The fact that GT4 RS uses synthetic fuels, which reduced CO2 emissions, attracted the most attention of visitors. Porsche Board Member for Research and Development Michael Steiner said: “Different regions of the world are adopting electric mobility at varying speeds, meaning vehicles with combustion engines will remain on the road for decades to come.” For that reason, Porsche started building a factory for the production of eFuels. The factory will be built in Chile and is expected to produce around 130,000 liters of eFuels by the end of this year, which Porsche will primarily use in motorsport racing.

Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS

As announced last month, Porsche unveiled the new 718 Cayman GT4 RS a few hours ago. It is the fastest and most powerful Porsche Cayman with 493 hp.

The GT4 RS has already shown its potential in the final testing phase when it set a lap time of seven minutes and 4.5 seconds on the Nürburgring Nordschleife. Much of the credit for overall performance goes to weight reduction (22 pounds less than the GT4), improved adjustable suspension, and optimized adaptive aerodynamics. All of this makes the grip of the GT4 RS 25 percent better than the Cayman GT4. For the first time, the Cayman is equipped with central locking rims.

It is equipped with an engine from the Porsche 911 GT3, with a slightly lower number of horsepower. That shouldn’t worry Cayman fans because the 4.0-liter flat six engine with 493 hp (368 kW) and 331 lb-ft (449 Nm) of torque still has 80 hp more than the Cayman GT4. With a weight of 3,227-pound (1,464-kilogram) it reaches 62 mph in 3.4 seconds with a top speed of 196 mph (316 km / h). Power is transmitted to the rear wheels via a seven-speed automatic transmission with two clutches (PDK).

It is expected to hit the market in early 2022 with a starting price of $ 141,700.

Porsche has also introduced the racing Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport, which will delight many private teams around the world.
