In 1982, Porsche was asked to produce a unique car that would resemble the Type 935, which was developed when the FIA tightened the regulations on homologation, so Porsche developed one of the most successful racing cars of the time. The car had a unique design (“Flat-Nose”) and in 1987 Porsche produced 142 units for the North American market. One of them, a 1987 Porsche 911 Turbo ‘Flat-Nose’ Coupe, is up for sale.
The car is finished in Guards Red and is in excellent condition with only 8,603 miles on the odometer. It is equipped with steel front fenders flush with the hood, retractable headlights, wider fenders, whale tail rear spoiler, limited-slip differential, new brake cooling vents located on the widened rear quarter panels. The service booklet on file documents the oil changes with mileage logs performed throughout the decades.
Inside, the heated front seats are upholstered in Champagne leather with contrasting red piping. Leather also covers the lower part of the dashboard and door panels, while the steering wheel is covered in black leather with black stitching. There is also an alarm system and a Reno Blaupunkt AM/FM stereo cassette player.
The Porsche 911 Turbo ‘Flat-Nose’ Coupe is powered by a turbocharged 3.3 L flat six engine with 282 hp (207 kW). The engine is paired with a four-speed manual transmission. It is mounted on a set of 16-inch Fuchs wheels.
The car has only had three owners, and the current owner bought it in 2013 and imported it to Kuwait. The auction will take place on December 10 and the estimated value of the car is between $250,000 – $300,000 USD. It is offered without reserve.
