Last year was extremely successful for Porsche, as the company sold more than 300,000 vehicles, an increase of 11 percent compared to 2020. According to the report, revenue of more than 33 billion euros was generated. This is primarily the result of teamwork, but also of courageous and innovative decisions aimed at Porsche’s plans for the future.
Porsche is currently well positioned in the market. The intention of the company is to maintain the existing sales growth, but also that half of the sales, in the coming years, come from electric vehicles. That would be the path to fulfilling the long-term goal, which is carbon neutral by the end of the decade. Lutz Meschke, Deputy Chairman and Member of the Executive Board of Finance and IT at Porsche AG, said: “Thanks to our highly motivated employees, our profitability program has been a complete success. Porsche has further increased its efficiency and lowered the profitability point. It gives us freedom to invest in the future survival of our company despite the tense economic situation. We are resolutely initiating investments in electrification, digitalization and sustainability. “
The current crisis with the shortage of semiconductors, but also the Russian invasion of Ukraine, had a big impact on all companies, including Porsche. The company suspended the delivery of vehicles to the Russian market, and only a few days later announced that it was temporarily suspending production. However, the company is optimistic about the future, especially better cooperation with Volkswagen.
Currently Porsche is working hard on a hybrid version of its most famous model 911, the Porsche 911 Hybrid. The car is currently in the final stages of testing, and should arrive on the market in 2023. According to the latest information, the car will not be PHEV, which was confirmed by Porsche CEO Oliver Blume. This would mean that it will be equipped with a small battery, and that the owners will not have to plug in to charge the battery. Rumor has it that the Porsche 911 Hybrid could have over 650 hp (478 kW), but this has not been confirmed.
Also, Porsche has decided to refresh several of its models such as the popular 911 Carrera and 911 (992) Cabriolet (as the 2024 model). Both cars will hit the market in 2023.
