Tesla is taking orders for the Roadster even though its future is uncertain

In 2017, Tesla presented a new generation of Roadster, which was supposed to hit the market three years later, but it didn’t happen. The American company is still taking deposits for the electric car, whose future is uncertain.

At the launch, Elon Musk promised that the Roadster would have miniature rocket engines and extraordinary performance. However, a lot of time has passed since then, and there is no sign of the car.

The new Roadster was supposed to have a range of 1,000 kilometers on a single battery charge, and acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in about two seconds. The plan was to produce a standard version that would cost $200,000, and 1,000 Founder Series examples that would cost $250,000 each.

The company opened orders after the car was unveiled, and each customer was required to pay a $5,000 deposit, followed by an additional $45,000 to secure a slot in line.

Whether or not Tesla will ever start production of this car remains to be seen.

Tesla activated Sentry Mode on all cars in showrooms

In the last month, Tesla has been facing a large number of attacks on its cars and showrooms, and Elon Musk has decided to confront vandals. According to the latest information, Tesla will activate Sentry Mode on all its cars in its showrooms.

Sentry Mode uses external cameras on cars and continuously records everything that happens around the vehicle. Tesla recently offered an upgrade that reduces battery consumption by 40 percent, which could help when using Sentry Mode.

Some stakeholders believe that it is necessary to increase the number of security guards, who would protect all showrooms and service centers in the US and Canada 24 hours a day, at least until the situation calms down. It remains to be seen whether the company will decide on both options.

Tesla Recalls 46,000 Cybertrucks Due to Body Panels Falling Off

Since its launch, Tesla has seen strong demand for the Cybertruck, with the company receiving around 2 million orders in a short period of time. However, customers soon began reporting problems with corrosion on the body, and now parts of the body are falling off. This forced the company to recall 46,000 Cybertrucks.

One of the most common problems with the Cybertruck is parts falling off, and the previous recall concerned the cargo area. There was also an issue with the gas pedal trim, which could slip off the metal.

Last week, a driver reported that the 2.74-meter-long stainless steel trim above the door had become loose. He reported the incident via the Tesla app, after which he was given an appointment for service. However, the next day, the body panel fell off. This happened on the highway while the Cybertruck was traveling at a speed of around 120 km/h.

The company has decided to recall 46,000 cars manufactured between November 13, 2023 and February 27, 2024, to fix a problem with body panels. Tesla believes that only 1 percent of the recalled vehicles may have this problem.
