The U.S. government is ordering 10 special SUVs for $ 36.4 million

The U.S. government has decided to start changing the existing fleet of vehicles with 10 special Chevrolet SUVs.

If you think these Suburban are too expensive, things are somewhat clarified by GM Defense. Due to increased load requirements and total weight as a result of numerous modifications, the vehicles get a new, firmer separate chassis, just as real SUVs and Heavy Duty vehicles. Also, cars will be equipped with special components, from the engine and brakes, all the way to the interior elements.

According to GM Defense President Steve duMont, GM will deliver Heavy Duty Suburban for Diplomatic Security Services with advanced mobility solutions to meet their needs.

This is only part of the continuation of further cooperation. Over the course of nine years, beginning in 2023, GM Defense will deliver 200 special Suburban to the U.S. government.

The biggest unknown is the power of the car. The current administration is committed to electrifying state-owned vehicles, and GM Defense already has adequate electric drives, including hydrogen ones. We can assume that these 10 vehicles will be electrified, otherwise they could use a 6.2 V8 engine with 420 hp (309 kW) and 460 lb-ft (624 Nm) of torque.

The price of these 10 cars is a staggering $ 36.4 million.
