Maserati MC20 on the Nürburgring Nordschleife

The German magazine Sport Auto tested another supercar on the most famous Nürburgring Nordschleife race track, and this time it’s the Maserati MC20. Journalist, racer and test driver Christian Gebhardt tried his best to set the fastest lap time, but failed.

Maserati MC20 is powered by a twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter V6 Nettuno engine with 621 hp (463 kW) and 538 lb-ft (729 Nm) of torque. The engine is paired with an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission that sends power to the rear axle. It reaches 62 mph in 2.9 seconds with a top speed of 201 mph (323 km / h). It is mounted on Bridgestone Potenza Sport tires.

The Maserati MC20 completed the 20,830 km (12,943 mi) long course in 7 minutes and 25.26 seconds, two seconds faster than the time achieved by the Ferrari 812 Superfast. It was also a second slower than the two-seater Maserati MC12 supercar that clocked a lap time of 7:24.29 nearly two decades ago. But considering the fact that the car wasn’t developed on the Nordschleife, it was a respectable lap time!

Upgraded Ferrari Purosangue with 830 HP

German tuner Pogea Racing, which is known for upgrading Abarth, Alfa and Ferrari cars, presented its latest work, the upgraded Ferrari Purosangue. It is the first Ferrari SUV that was premiered in September 2022.

While we wait for some of the world’s best tuners to present their work based on the Ferrari Purosangue, Pogea Racing has equipped the high-performance crossover with extended fenders, a KW suspension that makes the car even closer to the ground, a new exhaust system with quad tailpipes, a new set of 23″ and 24″ reinforced rims wrapped in Michelin tires.

This car is powered by a naturally aspirated 6.5-liter V12 engine with 830 hp (619 kW), paired with an 8-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission that sends power to all wheels. Performances have not been published. As a reminder, the standard Ferrari Purosangue has 715 hp (526 kW) and 528 lb-ft (716 Nm) of torque, and can reach 62 mph in 3.3 seconds with a top speed of 192 mph (310 km/h).

It should also be noted that the lucky ones who can afford the first Ferrari SUV have been waiting for delivery for more than three years, and now they have an option that will make their Purosangue different from other examples.

Red Bull Racing and AlphaTauri drivers compete in hovercrafts

Last weekend, the Las Vegas Grand Prix was held and the winner was Red Bull Racing driver Max Verstappen. However, before that, an interesting (Un)serious Race Series competition took place between the drivers of Red Bull Racing and AlphaTauri. It is a race in the Nevada desert and the drivers were driving hovercrafts.

“It’s fun to be here, I think the hovercrafts look ‘cool’ and are fun to drive. They’re slower than I thought, but I guess that’s because they’re hovering above the ground. The challenges were interesting, as was the whole series this year. We’re different vehicles around the world and it’s beautiful,” said Verstappen.

It was above all great fun for the Formula 1 drivers. However, they were very competitive as they were on the tracks. Before the competition, they discussed strategies, and then tested their skills in driving a 26.5 hp, four-meter-long hovercraft.

“It’s my first time flying a hovercraft, I ate a lot of sand so I don’t need lunch today. It’s challenging to fly them, you have to think a lot when you fly them,” said Perez.

“I didn’t know how hovercrafts would behave. They are actually a lot of fun, there is drifting, but at the same time you have to precisely control the throttle to make the hovercraft turn quickly. If you press the throttle too much and touch the ground, you will stop. All in all, it was fun” , Tsunoda said.
