1957 Porsche 356A Coupe is up for auction

Between 1955 and 1959, Porsche produced a second version of its first production car, the 356A. It is a collector’s car that has become very popular in recent years. One of them, a 1957 Porsche 356A Coupe is up for auction.

This 356A is powered by an overhauled 1.6L flat-four engine paired with a replacement 4-speed manual transmission that sends power to the rear wheels. The car sits on chrome-finished 15″ steel wheels wrapped in 165-width Coker Classic wide-whitewall tires.

The car is finished in Ruby Red with some imperfections in the finish. It has been well maintained and is part of DriverSource’s Oktmotorfest collection. It is equipped with body-color bumpers with guards, a driver-side mirror, a single-grille decklid, a rear luggage rack, dual polished exhaust outlets, and a front disc brake conversion. The service from July this year included rebuilding the twin carburetors, adjusting the carburetor linkage, performing an oil change, and replacing the fuel hoses, heater tubes, and spark plugs, tightening the front and rear suspension fasteners as well as performing a brake fluid flush .

Inside, brown leather covers the seats, door panels and rear bench, with squareweave carpets covered with black rubber floor linings. Additional equipment includes an ivory-finished steering wheel, map pockets and a Porsche-branding radio. The five-digit odometer reads 37,977 miles (total mileage unknown).

The car was with the previous owner for approximately 20 years before it was purchased by the current owner this year. It comes with an owner’s manual, a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity, service records, dyno results, a spare flat-four engine, and a clean Texas title.

The auction ends on November 16 and the highest bid at the time of writing was USD $42,000.

McLaren 750S Triple Crown Limited Edition

This year, McLaren celebrates six decades of existence, and the company decided to present a special edition of the car, the McLaren 750S Triple Crown. With this car, McLaren celebrates victories at three of the most famous races in the world, the Indy 500, the Monaco GP and the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

For this project, with the plate “3-7-59”, McLaren Special Operations used more than 20 colors. The front part recalls the McLaren Formula 1 MP4/2 car with number 7 with which Alain Prost was most successful in the 1984 Grand Prix race in Monte Carlo (Monaco), while the color combination on the rear part celebrates the M16D car with starting number 3 with which Johnny Rutherford won the American Indy 500 race in 1974. The middle part of the car celebrates the McLaren F1 GTR with starting number 59, with which Yannick Dalmas, Masanori Sekiya and JJ Lehto won the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1995.

Inside, the bucket seats are trimmed in Alcantara while the headrests feature a logo that represents the “Triple Crown.” Alcantara covers the door panels and the dashboard.

The car will be produced in only 6 copies, and the company said that all copies have already been sold. It is powered by a 4.0L biturbo V8 engine making 750 hp (560 kW) and 590 lb-ft (800 Nm) of torque. It reaches 62 mph (100 km/h) in 2.8 seconds with a top speed of 330 km/h (205 mph).
