Five months ago, marking its 75th birthday, Porsche unveiled its redesigned logo and now a special elegant metallic gray tone (Turbonite) badge, without the traditional gold finish, will adorn the new Porsche Turbo cars.
“In 1974, we presented the first turbocharged 911. Since then, the Turbo has become a synonym for our high-performance top models and is now more or less a brand of its own. We now want to make the Turbo even more visible, and differentiate it more markedly from other derivatives such as the GTS. This is why we’ve developed a distinctive Turbo aesthetic. From now on, the Turbo versions will exhibit a consistent appearance across all model series – one that is elegant, high-quality and very special,” said Michael Mauer, Vice President Style Porsche.
The special edition logo was created by the Porsche Color & Trim department, which also created the body colors, including more expensive shades offered through the Paint-To-Sample (PTS) program. In addition to this logo, the new color will also be used for the lettering on the rear and the borders of the side windows.
Turbonite will also be used in the interior of the new Turbo cars, such as trim strips, belt straps, mode switch and the air conditioning control panel, but also as a contrasting color for the yarn on the seats, the door panel trims, instrument panel and floor mats.
This logo should debut on the new generation Porsche Panamera which will be premiered on November 24 at the Icons of Porsche festival in Dubai. It will be powered by a 4.0L twin-turbo V8 engine combined with an electric motor with a total power of around 650 hp (485 kW). The engine will be mated to an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission that sends power to all four wheels. It will be equipped with a larger 25.9 kWh battery and an 11 kW charger that shortens the charging time despite the higher energy content. It will accelerate to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 2.9 seconds, and will have an electric range of 40 kilometers.
