Volkswagen ID. GTI Concept

Volkswagen ID. GTI Concept

At the 1975 Frankfurt International Motor Show, Volkswagen premiered its first GTI car, and almost half a century later, the Volkswagen ID. GTI Concept arrived on the market. It is a fusion of history and electric future of the German company inspired by GTI models.

At first glance, the Concept resembles the recently presented VW ID.2all Concept. A red body, a new black front fascia with red details, a rear spoiler, darker rear lights, carbon skirts, and a roof spoiler adorn the exterior of this electric car, the successor to the legendary Golf GTI.

The cabin, enough to accommodate five passengers, is done in a red-black combination equipped with a central 12.9-inch display and a 10.9-inch display in front of the driver.

When it comes to the powertrain, the car will be powered by a single high-performance electric motor paired with an electronic front wheel differential lock. It is expected to deliver significantly more than 200 hp (147 kW), as the ID.2all Concept on which the GTI is based offers 223 hp (164 kW).

At 4,104mm long, 1,840mm wide and 1,499mm tall with a 2,600mm wheelbase, the ID. GTI Concept sits between the Golf and the Polo. The standard electric hatchback will appear on the market in 2025, while the arrival of the GTI is expected a year later.
