In March 2024, Xiaomi announced that it had received permission from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) and that production of the SU7 model could begin. It is the first car of the Chinese tech giant, which has recorded outstanding sales results since its launch. To date, Xiaomi has shipped over 130,000 units of this model, which is beyond all expectations.
A car that is produced at the Super Factory in Beijing. This plant is an almost fully robotized with more than 700 industrial robots, and only 20 employees. Under normal conditions, this factory can produce 40 cars every hour, which means that one car leaves the assembly line every 90 seconds. However, when the factory is operating at full capacity, one Xiaomi SU7 is produced every 76 seconds.
Xiaomi’s Beijing facility currently has a capacity of 12,000 units per month, which is 150,000 units per year. The second phase is currently under construction, which will increase production to 300,000 cars per year, and will be operational in mid-2025.
