In 1948, Porsche’s first production automobile, the Porsche 356, arrived on the market. It was a lightweight and nimble-handling automobile available both in hardtop coupé and open configurations. In 1960, Porsche unveiled the 356B model, which was produced until 1963. One of the first examples, the 1960 Porsche 356B Roadster is up for sale.
This car is finished in Ivory (6004) and is in good condition with paint chips, scratches, and other blemishes. It is equipped with a convertible top, a red boot cover, fender-mounted mirrors, body-color bumpers with chrome overriders, a single decklid rear grille, stainless steel side spears and rocker panel trim, dual exhaust outlets, and four-wheel drum brakes.
Inside, the bucket seats are upholstered in red leather, matching the color of the dashboard, door panels and carpet. There is also a three-spoke steering wheel behind which is a five-digit odometer with 41,774 miles (total mileage is unknown). Additional equipment includes sun visors, a heater, lap belts, a passenger grab handle, black rubber floor mats, and storage pockets.
The Porsche 356B Roadster is powered by a 1.6-liter flat-four engine with 75 hp (55 kW) and 88 lb-ft (119 Nm) of torque. Power is transmitted to the rear wheels via a 4-speed manual gearbox. It is mounted on silver-finished 15″ ventilated steel wheels wrapped in Vredestein Sprint Classic tires.
The car comes with a copy of the Kardex, manufacturer’s literature, notes and photos from previous owners, and German registration.
The auction ends on March 9th and the current highest bid is $70,000 USD.
