For the last 20 years of the 20th century, an annual off road competition called the Camel Trophy has been held. Land Rover dedicated a special version of the Defender Trophy Edition to this competition.
The car is based on the Defender 110 P400 X-Dynamic SE model and the exterior is inspired by off-road vehicles. Only 220 copies of the Defender Trophy Edition will be produced and will be sold exclusively in North America. All specimens are colored yellow. The original Camel logo has been replaced with a new one, to avoid copyright issues. The logo is placed on both doors.
The Defender Trophy Edition is powered by a turbocharged 3.0-liter six-cylinder P400 engine and a 48-volt hybrid system. Total engine power is 397 hp (292 kW) and 406 lb-ft (550 Nm) of torque. The car is equipped with an eight-speed automatic transmission and has all-wheel drive. Off road equipment such as air springs, electronically controlled differential, 360-degree cameras, etc., is an integral part of standard equipment. It reaches 62 mph (100 km / h) in 6.1 seconds with a top speed of 129 mph (208 km / h).
Each buyer will have the opportunity to take part in an adventure with on and off road challenges. The competition will be held in North Carolina and the winner of the competition will have the opportunity to participate in the Land Rover Trophy competition in England. The starting price of each unit will be $ 91,000.
