Alfa Romeo has unveiled the new Edizione Luna Rossa special series, bringing the Italian marque’s partnership with the Luna Rossa sailing team to four production models: the Junior, Tonale, Giulia and Stelvio. Revealed during the second preliminary regatta for the 2027 America’s Cup in Naples, the new special edition combines distinctive styling, exclusive materials and technology inspired by high-performance sailing.
The Alfa Romeo Edizione Luna Rossa range represents the latest chapter in a partnership that began in June 2025 and is built around a shared focus on Italian design, technology, competition and performance.
With the 2027 America’s Cup set to be held in Italy for the first time, the timing of the new Alfa Romeo special series is particularly significant. Luna Rossa is competing for the prestigious trophy, while Alfa Romeo is contributing not only as an official sponsor but also through its expertise in vehicle dynamics, simulation and virtual development.
Alfa Romeo Edizione Luna Rossa: Four Models, One Design Philosophy
The new Alfa Romeo Edizione Luna Rossa special series will progressively become available across European markets and will sit at the top of the range for each model.
The Junior and Tonale receive a more expressive interpretation of the Luna Rossa theme, while the Giulia and Stelvio adopt a more exclusive and performance-focused approach, with extensive use of carbon fiber and premium materials.
Across all four models, the defining visual signature is a dedicated red Alfa Romeo logo combined with a color palette inspired by Luna Rossa’s racing yachts. White, black, gray and red are used in different combinations, complemented by the distinctive Luna Rossa graphics.
The result is a family of vehicles that share a recognizable visual identity while retaining the individual character of each Alfa Romeo model.
Alfa Romeo Junior Edizione Luna Rossa
The Alfa Romeo Junior Edizione Luna Rossa introduces the sailing-inspired theme to Alfa Romeo’s smallest model.
A new gray exterior color takes inspiration from the personal flotation devices worn by the Luna Rossa team. The bodywork is further enhanced by the characteristic Luna Rossa graphic running along the side of the vehicle, creating the impression of a line pulled tight by the wind.
Customers can also choose black or white exterior finishes.
A Gloss Black body kit, dedicated red Alfa Romeo badges and 18-inch Gloss Black alloy wheels complete the exterior treatment.
Inside, the Junior Edizione Luna Rossa receives dedicated upholstery, gray detailing, red stitching and Luna Rossa logos. The dashboard and center tunnel feature graphics inspired by the structure of sailing yacht sails.
One of the most interesting technical details is the use of 3D Knit technology for the seat upholstery. According to Alfa Romeo, the technology is being applied for the first time within Stellantis. The three-dimensional fabric draws inspiration from activewear while allowing the upholstery to be manufactured using a more efficient process based on a single component and lining.
That approach can reduce material consumption and manufacturing waste.
The Junior also features a 10.25-inch Alfa Connect infotainment touchscreen with navigation, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, alongside a 10.25-inch digital instrument display featuring Alfa Romeo’s customizable “Cannocchiale.”
Standard equipment includes Keyless entry, electrically folding mirrors, automatic climate control, heated front seats, an electrically adjustable driver’s seat with lumbar adjustment and massage function, a heated steering wheel and an electrochromic rear-view mirror.
Driver-assistance technology includes Intelligent Adaptive Cruise Control, autonomous emergency braking, lane-keeping assistance, traffic-sign recognition and driver-attention monitoring.
The Junior additionally features Blind Spot Monitoring, front, rear and side parking sensors and a rear camera with dynamic guidelines.
Power comes from either a hybrid or fully electric drivetrain.
The Junior Ibrida uses a 1.2-liter three-cylinder turbocharged engine producing 145 hp, paired with a six-speed eDCT automatic transmission. It is available with front-wheel drive or Q4 all-wheel drive.
The Junior Elettrica produces 156 hp from its 54-kWh battery and uses an automatic transmission.
Alfa Romeo Tonale Edizione Luna Rossa
The Tonale Edizione Luna Rossa follows a similar visual philosophy but adds larger dimensions and a broader range of powertrain options.
The special series is immediately recognizable by its new gray body color, Luna Rossa side graphic, Gloss Black exterior elements and dedicated red Alfa Romeo logos.
The biggest visual difference compared with the Junior comes from the wheels. The Tonale receives exclusive 20-inch Gloss Black alloy wheels developed specifically for the Luna Rossa edition.
Inside, premium fabric seats feature Luna Rossa logos and gray stitching, while the dashboard and door panels receive matching gray details. Black trim is used throughout the center console, door panels and air vents.
The Tonale also employs 3D Knit technology for its seat upholstery.
A new ambient-lighting system provides another connection with the world of sailing. Its geometric pattern is designed to evoke the structure of sails and introduces a subtle nautical reference to the cabin.
The Tonale’s standard equipment includes a 10.25-inch Alfa Connect infotainment system, navigation, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster with the Alfa Romeo “Cannocchiale” display.
The equipment list also includes dual-zone automatic climate control, an Air Quality System, Keyless entry, Passive Entry, heated mirrors, heated front seats, an electrically adjustable driver’s seat, lumbar adjustment and massage, a heated steering wheel and an electrochromic interior mirror.
Safety technology includes Intelligent Adaptive Cruise Control, automatic emergency braking, lane-keeping assistance, traffic-sign recognition and driver-attention monitoring.
The Tonale Edizione Luna Rossa is available across the full powertrain range.
The flagship plug-in hybrid Q4 combines a 1.3-liter four-cylinder engine with electric assistance to produce 270 hp. It uses a six-speed automatic transmission and Q4 all-wheel drive.
The conventional hybrid version produces 175 hp from a 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine and uses a seven-speed TCT automatic transmission.
A 130-hp 1.6-liter four-cylinder diesel completes the range, paired with a six-speed TCT automatic transmission.
The Tonale also gains a Brembo sports braking system with red brake calipers as part of its Luna Rossa specification.
Alfa Romeo Giulia Edizione Luna Rossa
The Giulia Edizione Luna Rossa takes the concept in a more performance-oriented direction.
While the Junior and Tonale focus heavily on visual customization, the Giulia and Stelvio use carbon fiber, premium materials and performance-oriented components to create a more exclusive interpretation of the Luna Rossa partnership.
The Giulia is available in white as standard, while black and Etna Red are offered as additional exterior choices.
Carbon fiber is used for the front badge and exterior mirror caps, with the latter carrying a dedicated Luna Rossa logo. The Giulia also receives side skirts and a rear spoiler inspired by the design language of the high-performance Quadrifoglio.
Dark alloy wheels measure 19 inches and are paired with red brake calipers.
Inside, the Giulia Edizione Luna Rossa combines leather with 100-percent recycled ECONYL fabric. The material is produced using nylon recovered from discarded fishing nets, creating a direct connection between the special edition and the maritime world.
Carbon fiber extends across the dashboard, center console and door panels, while the seats receive the distinctive Luna Rossa graphic.
A red Alfa Romeo logo appears on the steering wheel, complemented by additional Luna Rossa graphics throughout the cabin.
Standard equipment includes the Harman Kardon Hi-Fi system and electronically controlled suspension. An electric sunroof is also standard on the Giulia.
Under the hood, the European Giulia Edizione Luna Rossa is offered with 160-hp and 210-hp versions of the 2.2-liter four-cylinder turbodiesel engine.
Both use an eight-speed automatic transmission. The 160-hp version sends power to the rear wheels, while the 210-hp model uses Alfa Romeo’s Q4 all-wheel-drive system.
A 280-hp 2.0-liter GME gasoline engine is also available in the UK and selected non-European markets.
Alfa Romeo Stelvio Edizione Luna Rossa
The Stelvio Edizione Luna Rossa adopts essentially the same philosophy as the Giulia, but translates it into the brand’s larger performance SUV.
The exterior color palette includes white, black and Etna Red, while carbon-fiber mirror caps with Luna Rossa logos and a carbon-fiber front badge provide the most obvious visual distinction.
The Stelvio rides on exclusive 21-inch dark alloy wheels with red brake calipers.
The interior combines leather and recycled ECONYL fabric with extensive carbon-fiber trim. The material appears on the dashboard, center console and door panels, creating a technical atmosphere that reflects the connection between Alfa Romeo’s motorsport-inspired engineering and Luna Rossa’s high-performance sailing technology.
The seats feature the characteristic Luna Rossa graphic, while the steering wheel receives the dedicated red Alfa Romeo emblem.
Like the Giulia, the Stelvio Edizione Luna Rossa comes standard with a Harman Kardon Hi-Fi system and electronically controlled suspension.
The electric sunroof is available as an option.
The powertrain range includes 160-hp and 210-hp versions of the 2.2-liter turbodiesel engine, both paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission.
The 160-hp version uses rear-wheel drive, while the 210-hp version comes with Q4 all-wheel drive.
Alfa Romeo and Luna Rossa: More Than a Branding Exercise

The software is initially tested within the Luna Rossa simulator before being transferred to the actual boat for testing by the sailing crew.

The Edizione Luna Rossa range follows the debut of the Giulia Quadrifoglio Luna Rossa, a much more exclusive special project limited to just 10 examples.
All 10 cars have already been sold.
The Giulia Quadrifoglio Luna Rossa combines the 2.9-liter twin-turbo V6-powered Giulia Quadrifoglio with a bespoke carbon-fiber aerodynamic package and a series of technical modifications.
The car made its public debut at the Brussels Motor Show before appearing at the Ultimate Supercar Garage event in Paris.
It will also be displayed during the preliminary America’s Cup regatta in Naples.
From Cagliari to Naples: The Road to the 2027 America’s Cup
The Alfa Romeo and Luna Rossa partnership has developed alongside the Italian team’s preparations for the 2027 America’s Cup.
The first preliminary regatta took place in Cagliari in May, where the Luna Rossa Senior Team won the overall title after defeating Emirates Team New Zealand in the final. The Youth & Women’s team also competed in the event.
The second preliminary regatta is now taking place in Naples from September 24 to 27, 2026.
Six teams are competing over four days using AC40 foiling yachts, with the event providing another opportunity to develop boat handling, tactics and team organization before the competitors transition to the larger AC75 yachts for the 2027 America’s Cup.
The 2027 Louis Vuitton 38th America’s Cup will be particularly significant for Italy, as it will be the first edition of the America’s Cup to be held in the country.
For Luna Rossa, it represents another opportunity to compete for one of the most prestigious trophies in international sailing.
