Modified 1962 Porsche 356B is up for auction

Every Porsche 356 attracts the attention of collectors and ordinary enthusiasts, regardless of whether it is an original or a modified car. This one, a 1962 Porsche 356B, was born as a Karmann-bodied coupe and was converted to a roadster, and is now being offered at auction.

This 356B is powered by a 2.7L Type 4 flat-four engine by Fat Performance of Sante Fe Springs, California. The engine is paired with a four-speed 741 manual transmission, with a higher gear ratio, which sends power to the rear wheels. It is equipped with polished 15″ alloy wheels wrapped in 185/65 Pirelli P4 Persist AS Plus tires.

The car is finished in gray and is in good condition. It features custom recessed front turn signals, Euro-style taillight assemblies, twin decklid grilles, gray nerf bars, a single exhaust outlet that terminates through the right rear corner of the body, aluminum wheel spacers and longer wheel studs, a 356 Enterprises camber regulator, and a Koni steering damper, KYB shocks, adjustable torsion bar spring plates, four-wheel drums, MSD Street Fire ignition box, a Bosch ignition coil, a 12-volt alternator, a high-torque starter, dual CBR oil coolers, high-pressure oil lines with Earl’s Performance AN fittings, an oil catch can with a Moroso breather, dual carburetors with open-element air cleaners, and a custom tubular exhaust system.

Inside, aluminum Speedster-style seats are trimmed in black vinyl with gray corduroy inserts, which also cover the door panels. In front of the driver are a wood-rimmed MOMO steering wheel, a central tachometer flanked by a 120-mph speedometer, a combination gauge for oil temperature and fuel level, and a five-digit odometer showing 65,372 miles (total mileage unknown). Additional equipment includes a roll bar, a hand throttle mechanism, and a heater.

It is stated that the master cylinder, wheel cylinders, brake hoses, steering box, axle seals, tie rod ends, and front sway bar end links have been replaced under current ownership.

The car comes with a black soft top, a tonneau cover, side curtains, service records, and a clean Arizona title in the seller’s name.

The auction ends on November 19 and the highest bid at the time of writing was USD $24,000.

2024 Zeekr 007

China is currently the largest manufacturer of electric cars in the world, and one of the Chinese companies, Zeekr, has announced the arrival of its first fully electric sedan, the Zeekr 007. It is the fourth car of this company, which recently arrived on the European market with the ZEEKR 001.

This car was designed by Stefan Sielaffa who previously worked at the German companies Mercedes and Audi. It is equipped with a new design of the front part with an integrated light bar and daytime running lights, lights that extend to the side with interactive Smart Driver Assist lights, which change color to show the direction of movement when parking, roof nano-silvered glass, rear window with double glass nano-silvered foil for thermal insulation, and a leveled foil for passenger privacy with a transparent view. The design of the rear part of the car with a deeper and wider trunk lid on the sides points to the company’s plans in the premium segment.

The car is built on the PMA2+ (SEA) platform and supports 800V fast charging architecture. It is 4.86 m long, 1.90 m wide and 1.45 m long with a wheelbase of 2.93 meters.

When it comes to the powertrain, the Zeekr 007 will be powered by a single electric motor with 204 hp (152 kW) and 258 lb-ft (350 Nm) of torque, which is enough to push the car to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 6, 5 seconds.

Zeekr 007 will be premiered at the Guangzhou International Motor Show, and the first deliveries can be expected at the end of the year.

1957 Porsche 356A Coupe is up for auction

Between 1955 and 1959, Porsche produced a second version of its first production car, the 356A. It is a collector’s car that has become very popular in recent years. One of them, a 1957 Porsche 356A Coupe is up for auction.

This 356A is powered by an overhauled 1.6L flat-four engine paired with a replacement 4-speed manual transmission that sends power to the rear wheels. The car sits on chrome-finished 15″ steel wheels wrapped in 165-width Coker Classic wide-whitewall tires.

The car is finished in Ruby Red with some imperfections in the finish. It has been well maintained and is part of DriverSource’s Oktmotorfest collection. It is equipped with body-color bumpers with guards, a driver-side mirror, a single-grille decklid, a rear luggage rack, dual polished exhaust outlets, and a front disc brake conversion. The service from July this year included rebuilding the twin carburetors, adjusting the carburetor linkage, performing an oil change, and replacing the fuel hoses, heater tubes, and spark plugs, tightening the front and rear suspension fasteners as well as performing a brake fluid flush .

Inside, brown leather covers the seats, door panels and rear bench, with squareweave carpets covered with black rubber floor linings. Additional equipment includes an ivory-finished steering wheel, map pockets and a Porsche-branding radio. The five-digit odometer reads 37,977 miles (total mileage unknown).

The car was with the previous owner for approximately 20 years before it was purchased by the current owner this year. It comes with an owner’s manual, a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity, service records, dyno results, a spare flat-four engine, and a clean Texas title.

The auction ends on November 16 and the highest bid at the time of writing was USD $42,000.
