1957 Mercedes-Benz 300 SL Gullwing “The Last One” is up for auction

In the mid-1950s, Mercedes-Benz launched a two-seater sports car inspired by the racing cars of the time, the 300 SL Coupe, and in 1957, the Roadster version of this model hit the market. It was produced until 1963, and 3,258 units left the production lines. One of them, the 1957 Mercedes-Benz 300 SL Gullwing “The Last One”, is up for auction.

This 300 SL Gullwing is the last of the 1,400 Roadster units produced and is considered one of the most beautiful examples of this model. It is finished in a combination of Fire Engine Red (DB 534) over Crème leather (1060) and was produced by special order and was exhibited at the International Trade Fair in Poznań in 1957.

As one of the most stylish and desirable cars of the decade, it made many headlines. He was often a participant in amateur rallies, road races and endurance races, where he attracted attention with his designs, but also often connected with global companies, business tycoons, movie stars and royal families.

So far, it has changed just four owners, and it has been with the current one for the last 25 years. It should be noted that this example is in truly exceptional condition and has retained its numbers-matching chassis, engine, body, gearbox, and front kingpins. It is powered by a 3.0-L 6-cylinder engine with 218 hp that enables a top speed of 250 km/h.

Mercedes-Benz 300 SL Gullwing “The Last One” comes with copies of its factory data cards, historic imagery, matching luggage, and a full set of belly pans. The auction will take place on November 22 and the estimated value of the car is $2,500,000 – $3,500,000 USD.

1965 Porsche 356C Coupe

The demand for classic and well-preserved cars has been high for a long time, but it seems that in the last few months, buyers are no longer interested in buying such cars. One such, a 1965 Porsche 356C coupe, is offered for sale.

This Porsche that left the factory in Champagne Yellow was a project of the previous owner who sold the car in 2017 to the new owner who completed it. It has a gray Karmann body, twin engine grilles, bumpers with GT-style aluminum deco moldings, windshield washer system, an underside front tow ring, disc brakes at each corner, Bilstein shocks, and Sebring-style exhaust system with J-pipes and heater boxes.

Inside, the bucket seats are upholstered in black and black leather and tan corduroy inserts, and black leather also covers the rear bench, door panels and upper part of the dash. In front of the driver is a wood-rimmed three-spoke steering wheel and a five-digit odometer showing 86,477 miles. Additional equipment includes charcoal squareweave carpets and a replacement headliner.

When it comes to the powertrain, this 356C is powered by a replacement 1,720 cc flat-four with a Shasta big bore kit, 912 camshaft and twin-plug cylinder heads from an aircraft engine, mated to a four-speed manual transmission that sends power to the rear axle. Carrera four-cam-style cooling system with custom fan, generator, shroud with oil cooler, rebuilt dual Solex carburetors, custom twin distributor timing cover with a full-flow spin-on oil filter, dual Bosch distributors modified for twin plug are also installed. applications, a Super 90 flywheel, and custom ignition switches.

The car comes with a copy of the Porsche Certificate of Authenticity, a copy of the Kardex, the owner’s manual, a jack and tool kit, service records, the removed engine case, and a clean Texas title.

Four rare Aston Martin Zagato cars are up for auction

The historic home of Aston Martin with a heritage stretching back almost 60 years, Aston Martin Works, has announced the sale of a rare car built by Italian coachbuilder Zagato. We are talking about the Aston Martin Vanquish Zagato in Volante, Shooting Brake and Speedster variants, and the even rarer Aston Martin DBS GT Zagato.

All cars are part of a private collection and the Vanquish Zagato Volante and Shooting Brake were each produced in 99 examples, while the Speedster was produced in only 28 examples.

However, the most valuable car in this small collection is the DBS GT Zagato, which was produced in just 19 examples. All cars are powered by a naturally-aspirated V12 engine with 592 hp, mated to the Touchtronic III transmission.

Also, it should be noted that the owner separated the DBS GT Zagato from the DBZ Container Collection, which also included the DB4 GT Zagato Continuation. When the owner bought them, these two cars cost £6 million, excluding tax.
