1987 Ferrari 288 GTO Evoluzione for sale

In 1986, Ferrari unveiled the 288 GTO Evoluzione model with more aggressive and aerodynamic body styling and increased power compared to the standard 288 GTO. The car was made to race in Group B (set of regulations for GT cars used in sports car racing and rallying introduced in 1982 by the FIA). Ferrari’s intention was to produce 20 examples, but since Group B was cancelled, only 5 cars were produced. One of them, a 1987 Ferrari 288 GTO Evoluzione, will be auctioned next month.

The body, designed by Pininfarina, is made of Kevlar and fiberglass, while the rear wing is made of carbon fiber, reducing the car’s weight to under 1,000 kg (940 kg). Chassis number 79888 is the fourth of five remaining 288 GTO Evoluzione’s built.

At the end of 1988, the car was bought by Belgian racing driver and businessman Jean Blaton, and it remained in his possession until 1992, when it was sold to Garage Francorchamps and Jacques Swaters. After that, the car changed several owners before being sold to its current European owner three years ago.

Before the auction sale, the car underwent cosmetic and mechanical work that cost €133,000. The car wears the original Rosso Corsa. Dashboard covers, seat covers, seat belts, door windows, mirror glass, fuel lines, oil lines, brake fuel lines, and driveshaft boots were replaced. Suspension dampers, brake calipers, water pump, both turbos and gearbox were repaired.

The Ferrari 288 GTO Evoluzione is powered by a 2.9L twin-turbo V8 engine with 650 hp (485 kW) and 492 ft-lb (667 Nm) of torque. That’s enough power for the car to reach a top speed of 230 mph (370 km/h). Power is transmitted to the rear wheels via a 5-speed manual gearbox.

The auction will take place from 19 – 21 October 2022.

1984 Porsche 911 Carrera Cabriolet sold for $60,000

Recently, there are more and more modified cars on the market, especially modifications of the legendary 911, and one of them was recently sold at auction for $60,000. It is a 1984 Porsche 911 Carrera Cabriolet finished in silver with a green exterior wrap.

The car is powered by a 3.8-liter flat-6 engine with 780 hp (574 kW). Power is transmitted to the rear wheels via the “G50” 5-speed manual transmission. As a reminder, the original model was powered by a 3.1L N/A flat-six engine with 228 hp (170 kW) and 209 lb-ft (284 Nm) of torque. The increase in power is achieved thanks to the Turbonetics T3 “Stage 3” twin-turbocharger kit. It is mounted on 18-inch HRE wheels.

The modified 911 Carrera Cabriolet is equipped with a steel wide-body kit, RUF emblem on the hood and decklid, aftermarket front and rear bumpers and headlights, soft top from a 1997 911, “Whale tail”, adjustable coilovers, Brembo brakes with yellow brake calipers, aluminum intercooler, Fuel Air Spark Technology twin-plug fuel injection system, Blitz tuning system and Tilton Engineering carbon clutch kit.

Inside, the front sports seats from a 996-generation 911 are upholstered in red leather with green wrap on the seatbacks. Red leather covers the rest of the interior as well. In front of the driver there is an aftermarket steering wheel and a boost gauge in the instrument cluster. There are also bright accelerator and brake pedal caps, aftermarket center console, aftermarket shift knob and rear-view camera.

The seller reported scratches and “paint repairs” under the wrap. Carfax’s history report begins in 1999 and has had no accidents since then, although it does contain a few gaps. It also shows that this Porsche was owned in California and Florida from 1999 to 2020.

1986 Ferrari Testarossa is up for sale

In 1984, Ferrari introduced the Testarossa model as the successor to the Ferrari Berlinetta Boxer. The car was produced until 1991 and 7177 examples left the assembly lines. One of them, a 1986 Ferrari Testarossa with 35,000 miles on the odometer, is up for sale.

The car has the original Rosso Metallizzato color and is in good condition. It features pop-up headlights, fog lights, an asymmetric cooling duct under the left fog light, side intake slats, body-colored rear grills, a third brake light integrated into the hood, and quad exhaust outlets. In 2011, the camshaft belts were replaced, the valves were adjusted, while an oil change was carried out. It is mounted on Cromodora 16-inch five-spoke alloy wheels wrapped in BFGoodrich g-Force COMP-2 tires.

Inside, the comfortable seats are upholstered in black Nero Connolly leather that also covers the dashboard and door panels. In 2016, the carpets and kick panel were repaired. It is equipped with Alpine remote CD changer, radar detector, rear window defroster, gated shifter located on the center console alongside controls for the air conditioning and electric windows.

Under the hood is a 4.9-liter flat-12 engine with 380 hp (283 kW) and 354 lb-ft (480 Nm) of torque. It reaches 62 mph in 6.1 seconds with a top speed of 180 mph (290 km/h). Power is sent to the rear wheels via a 5-speed manual transmission with a limited-slip differential. It comes with clean Carfax report, tool kit and service records.

When it comes to price, the current highest bid is $75,000.
