2022 Volkswagen ID.5 has entered the production lines

As previously announced, the electric SUV Volkswagen ID.5 has entered the production lines. This is the sixth model to be produced in the first factory built to produce electric cars only. With the construction of the Zwickau plant, the annual capacity of the vehicles produced will exceed 1.1 million.

Adapting the Zwickau plant to produce only electric vehicles cost Volkswagen 1.2 billion euros and the process took more than two years. This factory is very important for the German manufacturer, which expects to produce almost 200,000 vehicles from the production lines of this factory this year. The vehicle manufacturing process is 90 percent automated and the factory is equipped with 1,625 robots.

The car will be offered in two versions, Pro and Pro Performance. The basic version is powered by a single engine with 172 hp (128 kW). It reaches 62 mph in 10.4 seconds with a top speed of 99 mph (160 km / h). The slightly more powerful Pro Performance version has 201 hp (150 kW) and reaches 62 mph in 8.4 seconds with a top speed of 99 mph. Both versions

Volkswagen’s plan is to produce 300,000 vehicles a year at this plant, which currently produces six models: ID.3, ID.4 and ID.5 plus, Audi Q4 e-tron, Q4 Sportback e-tron and CUPRA Born.

Rimac Nevera reached a charging power of 333 kW

Rimac Automobili, which recently became the majority owner of Bugatti, is one of the leaders in the world of cars and automotive technology. Their latest electric hypercar, Rimac Nevera, set a record in charging power.

Nevera is fully manufactured in Croatia. It has a lithium-manganese-nickel battery with 6,960 cells and a capacity of 120 kWh. Thanks to four individually powered wheels, the Nevera has 1,914 hp (1,408 kW) and 1,741 lb-ft (2,360 Nm) of torque. It reaches 62 mph in just 1.97 seconds with a top speed of 258 mph (413 km / h), and has a range of 342 miles (550 km).

This is not about acceleration or engine performance, but about charging power. The world was impressed by the charging power of the Tesla V3 Supercharger, Porsche Taycan and Hyundai Ioniq 5 with charging power between 250 and 260 kW, and Lucid with 300 kW. Then came Rimac. He connected Nevera to the IONITY charger and achieved amazing results.

Rimac Nevera set a record by reaching a charging power of 333 kW, which was impressive. Rimac also stated that this is not the maximum power, because the charging power can be increased up to an incredible 500kW.

Baidu DeepWay Xingtu electric truck

Chinese company Baidu has introduced an electric truck DeepWay Xingtu which will be a competitor to Tesla trucks. The truck is equipped with an autonomous system level 4, which could make it able to drive independently in the future, without a driver.

This technologically advanced truck, which stands out in appearance compared to the current offer, has a pronounced rounded design, hidden rear wheels and minimized height, which gives it a look very similar to modern trains. The truck was designed by Pininfarina.

The truck has a 450 kWh battery set that allows a range of 187 miles (300 km). It only takes an hour to fully charge the batteries. It is equipped with 11 cameras, an infrared sensor, five radars and one LiDAR.

Inside, the truck is equally impressive. In front of the driver is a digital cockpit that extends the entire length. Additional screens are placed in the door handles and A-brackets, and a separate screen is placed above the windshield, while the rear seat is similar to those in the car.

Baidu did not say whether and when the production of the truck will start, because the development is still ongoing.
