VW ID.Buzz Level 4

By 2025, Volkswagen intends to commercialize the electric van, ID.Buzz Level 4. The car is currently in the testing phase and will use Argo AI technology.

The presentation of the autonomous ID.Buzz vehicle will be in Qatar in 2022. It will be used in public transport on certain routes during the World Cup.

Volkswagen says that the commercial use of the van will be similar to that used by another company within the Volkswagen Group – Moia. ID.Buzz will only operate in certain areas.

Volkswagen is the first company to offer this level of automation. Honda claims that the new generation of Legend sedan will use level 3, in Japan. Late last year, General Motors began testing level 4 in San Francisco.

Fisker Project PEAR

Fisker has joined forces with Taiwanese company Foxconn Technology Group to produce a new electric vehicle in the Project PEAR (Personal Electric Automotive Revolution) whose production would begin in late 2023.

“Foxconn being the world’s largest manufacturer, if there’s anyone who truly can go in and take a look and be innovative (in auto manufacturing) it’s probably them,” said Fisker Chairman and CEO Henrik Fisker.

Unlike other companies, such as Tesla TSLA, which spend billions of dollars on their own manufacturing plants, Fisker relies on contract manufacturing of its vehicles.

After Foxconn developed a platform for future electric vehicles, Foxconn Technology Group Chairman Young-way Liu said “The key success elements of electric vehicle development include the electric motor, electric control module and battery. We have two major advantages in this regard, with an exceptional vertically integrated global supply chain and the best supply chain management team in our industry. ” He also noted “The collaboration between our firms means that it will only take 24 months to produce the next Fisker vehicle – from research and development to production, reducing half of the traditional time required to bring a new vehicle to market.”

So far, it is known that the vehicle will be smaller and cheaper than the Ocean model. The vehicle will be sold in North America, Europe and China, and up to 250,000 units will be produced.

CUPRA Born

As part of the strategy until 2025, CUPRA plans to produce its first fully electric car. It is a CUPRA Born model.

The model will be presented at the end of the year, and several versions of the design already exist. The car will be based on the VW Group MEB-Lite platform which is under development.

Dynamic Chassis Control Sport (DCC Sport) allows CUPRA Born to adapt to all conditions providing superior driving pleasure.

The interior of the car is a combination of modern technology and high quality materials.

Wayne Griffiths, CUPRA CEO said: “CUPRA Born displays all the genes of the CUPRA brand and we have taken the original concept to the next level creating a new sporty and dynamic design and reengineering the technological content. CUPRA Born is the living proof that performance and electrification are a great match. ”

The company is in talks with the Spanish government over the development of charging infrastructure for electric cars.

The focus of CUPRA’s engineers was to accelerate the car from 0-50 km / h in 2.9 seconds. Thanks to the 77kWh battery, one charge allows the car to cover a distance of 500 km. A 30-minute charge is enough to cover a distance of 260 km.

The car will be produced at the Zwickau plant in Germany.
