Prototype X based on the Land Rover Defender 90

Land Rover Defender 90 is a car that many tuners try to make better with additional equipment, raising its performance to a higher level. One of these is the British Kahn Design, owned by Afzal Kahn, which presented the Prototype X based on this model.

The car received new LED lights above the windshield, a newly designed front bumper/spoiler, and a larger spoiler above the rear door that houses the fifth wheel. It is finished in black, and the carbon body components, among which the extended fenders stand out the most, give the car a more powerful and aggressive look. Optional is a large glass roof, fog lamps, heated seats, an interactive digital display, a 360-degree camera, and satellite navigation.

Prototype X is powered by a 3.0-liter turbocharged inline-six (Ingenium) with 393 hp (293 kW) and 406 lb-ft (550 Nm) of torque. Power is sent to all wheels via an 8-speed automatic transmission. It reaches 62 mph (100 km/h) in six seconds with a top speed of 129 mph (208 km/h). It is mounted on black 22″ high-performance alloy wheels.

The car will be available through Chelsea Truck. “Chelsea Truck Company is known for the innovative styling we bring to Defenders past and present. With this vehicle, we are showing our more experimental side by including some of our newest works in progress. As a true 1-of-1 prototype, it will be of interest to collectors and enthusiasts and, at £105,000, represents superb value,” said CEO Afzal Kahn.

Restomod 1973 VW Beetle

The VW Beetle is the legendary car of the German giant and perhaps the company’s most famous car. It was produced from 1938 until 2003, and almost 16 million units left the production lines. The car was designed by Ferdinand Porsche, yes the same one who founded Porsche AG. It is still popular in some parts of the world, such as Cuba, and the German vintage car restoration company, Memminger, turned one into a truly remarkable car.

As a base, the company took a 1973 VW Beetle 1303 and installed an air-cooled 2.7L boxer with 175 hp (129 kW) and 192 lb-ft (260 Nm) of torque. The engine is paired with a new 5-speed manual transmission with longer gear ratios. The company did not reveal the car’s performance, but a top speed of around 200 km/h is mentioned.

The car is finished in Oak Green over light brown leather that covers the interior. It is equipped with reinforced adjustable suspension, upgraded brakes, more open stainless steel exhaust system, Recaro seats, sports steering wheel, two-tone Fuchs alloy wheels.

The Memminger company was founded by Georg Memming, and due to their successful business and outstanding car transformations, they are often compared to one of the best restomod companies in the world, Singer.
