Chevrolet Corvette C8 Z06 tested on the Nürburgring Nordschleife

The guys from the YouTube channel “Sport Auto” tested the new generation Chevrolet Corvette C8 Z06 with US Spec on one of the world’s most famous tracks, the Nürburgring Nordschleife. The car, powered for the first time by a centrally located 5.5-L engine, achieved a lap time of 7.10.51 min.

This Corvette C8 Z06 is the eighth generation of one of America’s most famous cars, and it was tested on the Nordschleife by German racer/journalist Christian Gebhardt. Also, it should be pointed out that the previous generation of this model was also driven on the 20.8 km long track, but it was a bit slower.

The Corvette C8 Z06 is powered by a 5.5-liter naturally aspirated V8 engine with 679 hp (499 kW) at 8,400 rpm and 459 lb-ft (623 Nm) of torque, mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission that sends power to the rear axle. Since it is an American model, it does not have a gasoline particulate filter. It’s mounted on 20″ and 21″ wheels wrapped in 275/30 R20 front and 345/25 R21 rear Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 R tires.

The car was almost perfect on the track, and some believe that by “removing some weight” the Corvette C8 Z06 would have a faster time. Anyway, it can be said that the test was still successful since it was faster than some of the competitors like Porsche 918 Spyder or Mercedes-AMG GT-R.
