For 2021, Honda has unveiled an updated version of the CR-V model. The refurbished SUV comes with a number of cosmetic and technological improvements, but its hybrid drivetrain has remained unchanged. The enhanced CR-V provides an attractive and spacious cabin bolstered by bountiful storage solutions that are perfect for road trips.
The most noticeable changes are in the interior, ie on the center console, door panels and dashboard where a silver finish was applied, while the most equipped EX model comes with a wireless drop for charging smartphones. Second-row passengers get more legroom, and for the first time Honda has an optional third row of seats that fold flat into the boot floor.
The exterior changes are more subtle, and include 18-inch alloy wheels, tinted windows, a blue Honda logo and the latest e: HEV nameplate, which supposedly signifies its “electrified credentials.”
Despite the same labels as in the case of the latest Jazz model, the improved CR-V did not get an innovative e: HEV hybrid drive, but uses an old i-MMD system. The CR-V hybrid is powered by a 2.0-liter four-cylinder petrol engine with 143 hp and two electric motors that combine for 212 horsepower. Electric motors deliver up to 315 Nm of torque, and at low speeds the CR-V can only use electric drive.
Honda has also made some changes to the chassis so the CR-V has got a new suspension that improves road holding and comfort. The steering system has also been improved, making the car more manageable at lower speeds.
