Ford V8 engine with less horsepower

Ford is reducing the power of the V8 engine due to emissions regulations

For 2022, Ford has prepared a special equipment package and minor cosmetic changes for the new Mustang. Compared to the standard model, the American car icon will have slightly less horsepower, so it can meet the new emissions regulations.

It is comforting that less power will not have much effect on the overall performance of the best-selling sports model in the world. Ford said that less horsepower is the only way a powerful engine can cope with the latest emissions regulations. This primarily refers to regulations in most European countries.

The Mustang will be powered by a 5.0-liter Atmospheric V8 engine (Coyote) with 450 hp (331 kW) and 409 lb-ft (555 Nm) of torque. That’s 10 hp (7 kW) and 11 lb-ft (14 Nm) less than a standard engine. Customers will be able to choose between a six-speed manual or a ten-speed automatic transmission. The car will have a rear wheel drive.

Unofficially, the next (seventh) generation Mustang should be introduced in 2023. Ford has already announced that the production of the fully electric Mustang will start at the end of 2028.
