2023 BMW 3.0 CSL

The recently introduced BMW M4 CSL did not hold the title of the most powerful model from the BMW M division for long. That place now belongs to the long-awaited 2023 BMW 3.0 CSL, which BMW produced in honor of its 50th birthday.

This car is a reminder of the legendary model 3.0 CSL (E9), whose racing edition (Batmobile) dominated the racetracks around the world in the 70s. It is based on the M4 CSL version, and the Bavarian-based company will produce only 50 examples of this model.

It is equipped with yellow LED laser lights, body made of carbon-fiber-reinforced plastic (CFRP), rear wing and the lettering on the roof, forged lightweight crankshaft, 3D printed cylinder head core, specially designed oil supply and cooling system, adaptive dampers, variable -ratio electric power steering and carbon-ceramic brakes. It is mounted on 20″ and 21″ center-locking wheels wrapped in specially developed Michelin tires.

The BMW 3.0 CSL has an extended body in the distinctive colors of the M division and with several details reminiscent of the original racing 3.0 CSL (Competition Sport Lightweight). It is powered by a 3.0 L inline-six engine with 560 hp (412 kW) and 406 lb-ft (550 Nm) of torque. Power is transmitted to the rear wheels via a 6-speed manual transmission.

BMW did not announce the price of the car, but some information says that the new BMW 3.0 CSL will cost €750,000.

Hyperion XP-1 is a new beast on the road

At the recent LA Auto Show, Californian company Hyperion unveiled its hydrogen electric hypercar, the XP-1. The first information about this car appeared two years ago, and it attracted the most attention thanks to its impressive specifications.

The car is still a prototype and the company announced that they plan to produce only 300 units. Also, the plan was to start production in 2022, but as the year is coming to an end, that will not happen.

In person, the car looks futuristic with its unconventional proportions, complex intakes and parts that stick out from the body including adaptive wings covered with solar panels. Thanks to the carbon-titanium monocoque structure, aluminum suspension, body reinforced with titanium composite and the absence of a massive battery, the car weighs only 1,032 kg, which is significantly less than most competitors.

It is powered by four electric motors with a total power of 2,038 hp (1,499 kW), which is enough to push the car to 62 mph in just 2.25 seconds with a top speed of 221 mph (355 km/h). The XP-1 has AWD and a range of 1,635 kilometers when the carbon tanks are full of hydrogen, and the filling process takes less than five minutes.

Wiesmann Project Thunderball is a new powerful roadster

German car manufacturer Weismann has unveiled its new powerful electric car, the Wiesmann Project Thunderball. It is a roadster based on a unique platform, and the company still hasn’t announced the start of production, even though they have started receiving orders.

“This is the culmination of a dream, the result of years of design excellence and engineering brilliance. I truly believe we’ve made not just the world’s most exciting electric sports car, but a car so unique that it will appreciate in value over its lifetime,” said Roheen Berry, owner of Weismann.

To preserve the classic shape, Wiesmann moved the cabin as far back as possible. This was a very difficult task due to the position of the two electric motors located just behind the cockpit that drive the rear wheels. The T-shaped battery is positioned to lower the car’s center of gravity, occupying the central tunnel and extending to the front wheels.

The Wiesmann Project Thunderball is powered by two electric motors with a total power of 680 hp (500 kW) and 811 lb-ft (1,100 Nm) of torque. Power is transmitted to the rear wheels via a single-speed gearbox with a limited slip differential. It reaches 62 mph in 2.9 seconds, 124 mph (200 km/h) in 8.9 seconds. Thanks to 92kWh battery capacity (83kWh available) Project Thunderball has a range of 500 km. It’s mounted on a set of Weismann Aero 21-inch wheels wrapped in 265/30 ZR 21 (front) and 305/25 ZR 21 (rear) Michelin PS 4S tires.

The company announced that the car will be manufactured at Wiesmann’s Gecko plant in Germany. The starting price of the car is €300,000 EUR.
