Renault will restart production in Russia

The current situation caused by the Russian invasion of Ukraine has created not only a security and political crisis, but also an economic one. Last month, Renault announced that it was shutting down production lines at AvtoVaz. And while many companies withdrew from the Russian market last month, Renault chose not to do so. Now Renault has announced that it will restart car production at its plant in Moscow.

“Interruptions are caused by more rigorous border controls and the need to change logistics routes,” their official statement said. Interestingly, they did not state that the decision has anything to do with the invasion.

Some may be surprised by this decision, but those who know the car market better will definitely not. The Russian market is the second largest for the French carmaker, where Renault is the majority owner of Lada Holding with 67.61 percent. It also controls almost a third of the Russian car market and employs about 40,000 people.

According to some sources, the French carmaker has decided to restart production in fear of losing its plant. Namely, the Russian government recently announced that it is considering confiscating the factories of foreign companies that are withdrawing from the market during the invasion of Ukraine.

On Monday, AvtoVaz announced that it was temporarily suspending production at the Togliatti and Izhevsk plants between May 21st and 25th due to a lack of electronic components. The Izhevsk plant produces Dacia Logan and Sandero.

Next month, BMW will present its all-electric model, the 2023 BMW i7. The car has been tested in the Arctic Circle and southern Europe, and now the final tests are taking place in the wind tunnel and the streets of Germany. Along with it, BMW will also present the new 7 Series, which is powered by an internal combustion engine.

So far, only spy photos have appeared, based on which we could see that the car was covered with camouflage. The front part will be adorned with light elements made of exclusive crystal glass and illuminated contour of the kidney grille, which will give the car a modern look. Knowing the commitment of BMW engineers and employees, we can expect the best possible solutions when it comes to aerodynamics and comfort.

The interior of the i7 will be equipped with a curved display, a newly developed panoramic glass roof Sky Lounge, light and functional strips on the instrument panel and doors that will provide better ambient lighting, while the rear will feature a 31-inch 8k resolution screen.

The company is still hiding data on the performance of the electric sedan, but they have revealed that the i7 will be the most powerful version of the 7 Series. “The all-electric BMW i7 is also the most powerful BMW 7 Series. It combines the best driving experience with the ultimate digital experience. It will use the CLAR platform and will be equipped with a 105.2 kWh battery set, which will provide a range of 392 miles (630 km) on a single charge.
