Low fuel consumption vehicles

With rising oil prices in the world, fuel consumption has become relevant as one of the significant characteristics of vehicles. However, there are also owners of cars with ICE who are not concerned about the fuel consumption of their vehicles.

At the end of the 20th century, cars with a consumption below 5 l / 100 km were Suzuki Swift, Daihatsu Charade and Citroen AX . Today, some other cars have taken over that role. Despite technological developments, their consumption has not dropped significantly.

According to the British magazine What Car?, which made a list of 10 fuel-efficient cars, there are only a few family vehicles among them.

In 10th place is the European bestseller, Dacia Sandero 0.9 TCe (90 hp) which consumes 4.45 l / 100 km. Reasonable price and the possibility of gas installation make this model probably the best choice in times of crisis. In 9th place is the Seat Leon 1.0 TSI (95 hp) with the same consumption as the Sandero, but with a significantly higher price.

Among the top 10 are small city cars such as the Kia Picanto, VW Up, Škoda Citigo 1.0 (60 hp), etc., all with an available consumption of 4.2 to 4.3 l / 100 km. In third place is the Up with a weaker engine (75 hp) and 4.21 l / 100 km. At the top of the list is the Suzuki Ignis 1.2 with a consumption of less than 4 l / 100 km.

When it comes to diesels, the ones with the lowest consumption are the Opel Astra 1.6 CDTI with an average of 4.18 l / 100 km, the Seat Leon 1.6 TDI with a minimum of 4.3 l / 100 km, which is more than the Škoda Superb 2.0 TDI with 150 hp.

2023 Skoda Superb

The fourth-generation Skoda Superb was spotted during testing and will bring a new approach to exterior design. It will also have a completely new interior when it hits the market in 2024.

The new Superb is based on the modular MQB platform of the Volkswagen Group, and the test model revealed a slight increase in length and wheelbase. That will be a significant difference compared to the Octavia, a model that has also undergone some changes in its fourth generation.

As previously predicted, the car will have a lower roofline and wide and thin taillights, including a slightly longer rear suspension. It will have a new radiator grille and the side profile will be improved with strong shoulder lines.

The Superb will be powered by the latest generation of internal combustion engines from the Volkswagen Group. This includes 2.0-liter petrol and diesel engines that will meet Euro 7 emission standards, which are likely to be available by 2025. The new Superb will also be available with a new plug-in hybrid version.
