2023 Porsche LMDh final testing

Last year, Porsche spread a story about the LMDh prototype that will be developed in collaboration with Multimatic. After testing the LMDh prototype that Porsche completed on its own test track, the team of engineers, technicians and drivers has now moved to Spain, to the F1 track of Catalunya near Barcelona.

In the photos we can see a large rear wing with LED lights on the sides, an LED light bar, large wheel arches and Michelin Pilot Sport tires. Drivers Felipe Nasr (Brazil) and Dane Cameron (USA) covered more than 2,000 test kilometers in a few days, and Porsche and the Penska team (which is in charge of the LMDh program) said they were very pleased with the results achieved by the prototype.

When it comes to powertrain, the LMDh is powered by a turbocharged V8 engine combined with an electric motor with a total power of 670 hp (493 kW), because according to current regulations, the car’s power must not exceed 680 hp (500 kW).

Currently, Porsche is focused on teams using the 911 GT3 R model, as well as on the entry of four more versions of the 500+ PS nine-eleven to the European endurance classics on the Nürburgring and Spa-Francorchamps.

The Porsche LMDh will debut in the 2023 WEC (World Endurance Championship) season.

Veloqx Fangio with V12 engine

A sports car with the most original but also the most aggressive look was filmed on the race track in Abu Dhabi. It is a Ferrari F12 with a V12 engine, called the Veloqx Fangio. The car was designed by Sam Li who became known to the general public when he discovered that he had expanded his rich collection with a unique, historical-inspired F12 TRS model, the 250 Testa Rossa.

The car looks impressive, so it’s hard to decide which part attracts more attention. The aggressive body kit brings a large front splitter with air intakes that pushes air under the car increasing downforce, while at the rear there is a huge diffuser under which the quad exhaust is located.

Although there is no information about the powertrain, it is assumed that the Veloqx Fangio will be powered by a modified 6.3 V12 engine with 740 hp / 544 kW (780 hp / 574 kW in TdF) from the F12 Berlinetta.

SAM Lee is a big fan of Ferrari, but also of the legendary racer Juan Manuel Fangio, who was a great inspiration to this billionaire, so he paid tribute to him by giving his name “Fangio” to this car. The second word “Veloqx” refers to the team that won the 12 Hours of Sebring race in 2004.

1,100 Porsche cars destroyed in fire

The Portuguese Coast Guard announced that it had received an SOS call from cargo ship Felicity Ace, which was transporting 1,100 Porsche cars. The Portuguese navy managed to rescue and evacuate to safety 22 crew members from the ship that was caught in the fire.

Felicity Ace set off from Emden, Germany, and was scheduled to arrive in Rhode Island on February 23rd. The SOS signal was sent early in the morning from an area near Faial Island.

Felicity Ace has been transporting cars from the Volkswagen Group for a long time. This time there were 4,000 cars on board, of which 1,100 were Porsches.

“A large number of our cars are among the cargo. We are in contact with the shipowner and the details of the cars on board are known. Dealers will inform customers affected by this incident,” said Porsche spokesman Luke Vandezande.

Volkswagen stated: “We are aware of an incident today involving a cargo ship transporting Volkswagen Group vehicles across the Atlantic. At this time, we are not aware of any injuries. We are working with local authorities and the shipping company to investigate the cause of the incident. “

It is not known what caused the fire, but it can be assumed that it spreads very quickly, because the crew could not control it.

Car owners have been informed to contact dealerships for more information.
