2025 Mitsuoka M55 Zero Edition

In late 2023, Japanese company Mitsuoka unveiled the M55 Concept, which will hit the market next year as the Mitsuoka M55 Zero Edition. The company was founded in 1968 to build unique cars with unconventional styling, and the order book for this car is open.

The M55 Zero Edition was unveiled to celebrate the company’s 55th anniversary and is based on the Honda Civic, although its design resembles the Dodge Challenger. In 2025, the Japanese company plans to deliver 100 cars, and potential buyers will participate in a lottery to secure slots for one of the 100 cars with a deposit of $ 3,500. Those who are not drawn in the lottery will get their money back.

Mitsuoka has opened orders for 350 cars until January 19, 2025, after which the order book will be closed. The car can only be ordered from distributors in Japan.

As for the powertrain, the M55 Zero Edition is powered by a 1.5-liter turbocharged engine with 183 hp (134 kW) and 177 lb-ft (240 Nm), mated to a 6-speed manual transmission that sends power to the front wheels. In the future, the car could be offered with a CVT transmission and a hybrid drivetrain.

The company has long considered whether to start production of this car or not. However, the positive reactions and comments on the company’s website were decisive for the start of production.

Each car will cost $ 52,200 USD.

Restomod

TWR Supercat based on the Jaguar XJS

British company TWR has unveiled the Supercat, a restomod based on the Jaguar XJS. The engineering company was founded in 2020 as a separate entity from the legendary Tom Walkinshaw Racing.

The Supercat features aggressive aerodynamic front and rear, a flatter undercarriage, side-mounted exhaust pipes and a huge new diffuser. The chassis is reinforced with carbon fiber, the double wishbone suspension has active and adjustable dampers, while the subframe uses TWR’s T45 high-strength tubular stainless steel. A limited-slip differential and traction control system are also installed to increase stability.

The interior of the car is equipped with electronically adjustable leather-wrapped front seats, while the rear seats have been removed. There is also a digital instrument cluster and a central infotainment screen with support for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

As for the powertrain, the original 6.3-liter engine has been replaced with a 6.5-liter V12 engine with 670 hp (493 kW) and 538 lb-ft (730 Nm) of torque, mated to a 6-speed manual transmission with launch control that sends power to the rear axle.

Only 88 units will be produced, and buyers will be able to choose between right-hand or left-hand drive.

DS Automobiles will produce the SM Tribute Concept

This year, DS Automobiles celebrates 10 years of independence, and in September, the SM Tribute Concept was unveiled. Now, the French automaker is looking for a way to start producing the car, but in a limited edition.

In an interview with Top Gear, head of design Thierry Metroz said that Stellantis CEO Carlos Tavares and DS CEO Olivier Francois agreed that the SM Tribute Concept would be built on the platform used by the Maserati Granturismo. Currently, both companies are negotiating a car price that would be acceptable to most buyers, but also economical.

The concept features a long hood that tapers to the floor, as well as a glass front that in the 1970s housed headlights that moved with the steering wheel. Like the original Citroen SM, it is adorned with a combination of gold and black colors and shows how the original model would look today. Inside, the curvature of the dashboard and seats are reminiscent of the original model. In front of the driver is a boxy steering wheel with an integrated screen, as well as a digital instrument cluster.

When it comes to the powertrain, the company has confirmed that the car will not be an EV. Some believe that the SM Tribute will be powered by a turbocharged 3.0-L V6 Nettuno engine with around 538 hp, but this cannot be confirmed. The original SM was powered by a 2.7-liter V6 engine borrowed from Maserati and had front-wheel drive, but Maserati now has four-wheel drive.
