2025 Audi A5 and S5

After Audi decided to allocate even numbers to electric vehicles and odd numbers to combustion cars, the Ingolstadt-based company unveiled the new generation A5/S5. They will replace the A4/S4 on the market, which are becoming fully electric.

The new generation A5 comes with a slightly more modern look and more technology. It received a wide grille, large air vents and new exhaust pipes. LED daytime running lights and second-generation OLED taillights are standard, and adaptive lighting effects are available in Europe. Thanks to the longer wheelbase, passengers have more space in the cabin lined with quality materials. There’s a slim OLED MMI screen, an 11.9-inch virtual cockpit screen, a 14.5-inch MMI touchscreen and an optional 10.9-inch screen for the front passenger. Adjustable HUD display allows control of vehicle functions and infotainment system. Customers can also choose an optional screen for navigation or streaming on the passenger side, Bang and Olufsen sound system with speakers in the headrests, dual-zone air conditioning and more.

When it comes to the A5’s powertrain, buyers can choose between two options. The first option is a turbocharged 2.0-L four-cylinder engine with 150 hp (112 kW) and FWD or 204 hp (152 kW) and quattro four-wheel drive. The engine is equipped with a turbocharger with variable turbine geometry (VTG) for more efficient use of fuel under partial load.

The second option is a 2.0-L TDI (EA288) engine with 204 hp (152 kW) and 295 lb-ft (400 Nm) of torque, mated to a dual-clutch automatic transmission and front- and all-wheel drive. This option comes with a 48-volt mild hybrid system.

The Audi S5 is powered by a turbocharged 3.0-L V6 engine with 362 hp (270 kW), mated to a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission, and features quattro four-wheel drive with torque distribution technology. Audi has improved the suspension and steering, while adaptive shock absorbers are also available for a more comfortable ride.

Both models will be on sale from the end of the year, and the price of the basic A5 is 45,200 euros, which includes navigation, an electronic rear hook and a cell phone compartment with a charging function.

BMW is still the leader in the segment of premium cars. According to the Bavarian manufacturer, in the first six months BMW sold 1,096,486 cars worldwide, which is a growth of 2.3 percent compared to the same period in 2023. Although the biggest growth was recorded in the sale of electric cars, and 180,000 of them got new owners (+34%), customers still mostly opt for cars powered by internal combustion engines and hybrids.

When it comes to competition, in second place in the ranking of premium brands was Mercedes-Benz, which, although it delivered around 960,000 cars worldwide, recorded a 6 percent drop in sales. Also, in the segment of battery cars, they sold only 93,400 units (-17%). Audi is in third place with 833,000 cars delivered, which is also a drop of 8 percent compared to the same period in 2023. 2025 Audi RS Q8 and RS Q8 Performance

At the end of 2023, Audi presented redesigned editions of the Q8 model, and now it’s time for the refreshed RS Q8 and RS Q8 Performance, which is Audi’s most powerful SUV ever.

Audi equipped both versions with an electromechanical active stabilization system. This system works in a way that two small electric motors, positioned between the halves of the stabilizers, activate the stabilizers in the opposite direction when turning and thus reduce the tilting of the vehicle. There’s also a mechanical center differential and adaptive air suspension that can adjust the car’s height by up to 90 millimeters, 420mm discs with ten-piston brake calipers (the RS Q8 Performance comes with 440mm front and 370mm rear carbon ceramic discs), and a set of 23″ wheels.

Also, customers can now choose from three new metallic colors: Sakhir Gold, Ascari Blue and Chili Red. The RS Q8 has new mirror housings, a front spoiler, window details and a rear diffuser, while the RS Q8 Performance has matte carbon mirrors, a front spoiler and a matte gray rear diffuser. The interior comes in three equipment packages (red, gray and blue) which include perforated sports seats, Dinamica microfiber on the center console and an Alcantara steering wheel.

When it comes to the powertrain, both versions are powered by a 4.0-L twin-turbo V8 engine that in the RS Q8 delivers 600 hp (447 kW) and 590 lb-ft (800 Nm) of torque at 2,200 – 4,500 rpm. That’s enough power to push the SUV from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 3.8 seconds with an electronically limited top speed of 250 km/h (155 mph). The RS Q8 Performance is slightly more powerful and delivers 641 hp (478 kW) and 627 lb-ft (850 Nm) of torque, which is enough for acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.6 seconds and a top speed of 280 km/h (174 mph). The engine is paired with an eight-speed Tiptronic transmission that sends power to all wheels.

Speaking of the price, the RS Q8 starts at 141,900 euros, while the RS Q8 Performance is slightly more expensive and costs 155,700 euros.
