BMW M3 CS Limited Edition

From BMW comes the limited edition M3 CS with more power and less kilos.

Under the hood is a 3.0L inline-six biturbo engine (S58) with 550 hp (405 kW) and 479 lb-ft (650 Nm) of torque. Significantly more power compared to the standard M3 Competition, which has 510 hp (375 kW), but also 34 kg less. Power is sent to all wheels via an 8-speed automatic transmission, while rear axle drive is optional. It reaches 62 mph (100 km/h) in 3.4 seconds with an electronically limited top speed of 302 km/h (188 mph).

BMW’s M division used a similar recipe for the previous generation of the M3, so this time, a lighter and more powerful car is arriving than the M3 Competition on which it was based.

The car is equipped with lightweight components such as a carbon hood, a titanium exhaust system, carbon front seat shells, and ultra-light 19 and 20-inch reinforced rims wrapped in 275/35/19 (front) and 285/30/20 (rear) Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2.

The company did not announce how many copies of this car will be produced, but they revealed that the CS (Competition Sport) in Germany will cost 146,000 EUR.

Head-up display (HUD) is the future of the automotive industry

At the 2023 CES Las Vegas, BMW premiered the Vision Dee concept, which serves as a technology preview of the brand’s next-generation electric vehicles. The car is equipped with a large “head-up” display that stretches across the entire width of the windshield.

BMW is serious about replacing conventional screens in its cars with large HUDs, and the company’s CEO even believes that the days of large screens integrated into dashboards are numbered. So speaking during the press conference at this year’s CES, Oliver Zipse said that he is absolutely convinced that large screens on the center console will not be used anytime soon.

Zipse believes that large screens are a major distraction for drivers and that even regulations could force automakers to change interior design and ditch displays as a solution. “In 10 years there will be no such thing,” Zipse told media representatives.

The current HUD display meets the criteria set by BMW. “With our technology, everyone in the car can see the same information, even the people in the back,” said BMW design chief Domagoj Dukec. Oliver Zipse, for his part, added that this new system is “a quantum leap in terms of design, technology and sustainability”.

It reaches 62 mph in 3.9 seconds with the automatic transmission or 4.1 if the manual transmission is used. BMW has electronically limited the top speed to 155 mph (250 km/h), but this can be increased to 177 mph (285 km/h) with the optional M Driver’s Package.

The car is equipped with carbon body components, which, according to the M department, have a “positive effect” on the aerodynamic properties of the Coupé, M Performance adjustable suspension that allows the car to be lowered by an additional 25 millimeters, a carbon rear spoiler, a rear diffuser with quadruple tailpipes for a louder exhaust systems made of titanium. Inside, Alcantara with carbon accents adorns the interior of the powerful sedan.
