The best Grand Prix Collection is for sale

‘F1 Supremo’ or better known as Bernie Ecclestone, is a British businessman, motorsport executive and former racing driver. A great car enthusiast and collector, he owns one of the largest collections of F1 cars in the world, which is now for sale.

Bernie Ecclestone is the founder of the Formula One Group, and for years he collected and hid from the public some of the most incredible cars. The collection includes 69 cars, 17 of which are Ferraris, and one of them is the Dino 246, in which Phil Hill, Richie Ginther, Tony Brooks and Wolfgang von Trips raced. Mike Hawthorn won the championship in this car in 1958. There is also the Ferrari 275 F1, the first Ferrari to win an F1 race. Alberto Ascari was behind the wheel of this car in races in Italy and Germany. Also, there is the Ferrari F2002 from 2002, which was driven by Michael Schumacher and Rubens Barrichello and which recorded three victories.

“I have been collecting these cars for over 50 years, buying only the best examples. While many other collectors have opted for sports cars, my passion has always been Grand Prix and F1 cars. They are more important vehicles than any road car or any other type of racing vehicle, because they are the pinnacle of the sport. All the cars I have bought over the years have a fantastic history and are rare works of art. I love all my cars, but it is time to think about what will happen to them. them when I’m gone. That’s why I’ve decided to sell them. I want to know where they’ve ended up after I’m gone,” Ecclestone said.

The collection also includes 30 Brabham cars, which is to be expected since Ecclestone owned the Brabham F1 team from 1972 to 1985. During that time, he collected at least one example of every car that was built, including the 1981 car driven by Nelson Piquet, and the Brabham BT46B Fan Car driven by Niki Lauda at the 1978 Swedish Grand Prix.

Ecclestone has a truly impressive car collection, and perhaps one of the best in the world, with an estimated value of more than $300 million.

Ford museum with $1 billion vehicles

When we talk about expensive cars, the first thing that comes to mind are private collections worth tens of millions of dollars. However, there is one place where vehicles worth about a billion dollars are kept, and that is the storage of the Henry Ford Museum in Dearborn, Michigan.

Ollie Kew, Deputy Editor at Top Gear Magazine visited the warehouse where curators and experts have amassed an incredible collection of vehicles, from NASCAR cars and military vehicles to unique concepts and bikes.

In a conversation with Matt Anderson, curator of transportation at Henry Ford, we learned that there are around 300 cars in the museum, 1/3 of which have never been displayed at one time. He singled out several cars such as the 1912 Baker Electric that was purchased by William Howard Taft, the President of the United States at the time, and driven by his wife Helen. Also, this car remained in the White House and was used by the next four first ladies until the late 20s.

The next car Anderson showed was a 1953 Ford X-100 produced for the 50th anniversary, which was advertised as 50 innovations. Among the innovations is a rain sensor on the roof that, if you leave the car open and it starts to rain, the roof closes by itself. There are also Ford Model T and Model A that belonged to Henry Ford, MG TC (1949), Ford Escort (1981), Ford Thunderbird NASCAR (1987), Ford Ranger for emergency services used after terrorist attacks in the USA 2001, Ford Hot Rod (1932), Ford Focus Electric Test Car (2009) and many others.

Watch the video and enjoy the beautiful cars that you won’t have the chance to see, at least nowadays.

A large car collection is up for auction

At the beginning of the year, YouTuber Omi in a Hellcat (Bill Omar Carrasquillo) was sentenced to 66 months in prison for illegally selling content hijacked from cable boxes. He and his accomplices earned 30 million dollars (or about 28.6 million euros) from this illegal activity. Now, he has to pay cable operators $10.7 million (€10.2 million), the IRS $5 million (€4.7 million), and will lose his car collection.

“I really didn’t know the significance of this crime until I was picked up at my home. I feel like I let everybody down,” said Bill Omar Carrasquillo.

His car collection is offered for sale and consists of a total of 32 cars, as well as several quads, motorcycles and other vehicles. Among them are two copies of the Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk, Dodge Challenger and Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat, Dodge Durango SRT, four Lamborghinis, two Ford Mustangs, Audi R8, Acura NSX, Bentley Continental GT, BMW M8, Toyota Supra, Honda Civic Type R and others. The star of the auction is the 2019 Lamborghini Aventador LP740-4S, which is adorned with a foil with a Power Rangers design.

“Thirty million dollars is a lot of money, tangible objects aren’t everything. You have a large following and there may be people who think if you can get away with it, they can too,” said U.S. District Judge Harvey Bartle III.
