Ford is shutting down production of the Focus ST

The beginning of 2025 showed that Ford in Europe is not even close to getting out of the crisis that has been going on for a long time. The rapid transition to all-electric cars and the discontinuation of some models were a gamble. Everything started collapsing like a house of cards, and the latest information says that even the Focus ST will no longer be on offer.

Maybe this is a surprise for some, but let’s remember that Ford has already announced that the production of the Focus will end in November. However, no one could have expected that this could be the end for the sports version as well. How smart this move is remains to be seen, and anyone interested can order the latest examples in European Ford dealerships.

The current Ford Focus ST is powered by a 2.3-L Ecoboost four-cylinder turbo petrol engine with 280 hp and 420 Nm of torque, mated to a 6-speed manual or 7-speed automatic transmission that sends power to the front wheels. It accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.7 seconds with a top speed of 250 km/h.

Whether the American company will change its mind and introduce a successor in the near future is currently unknown.

Ford Mustang GTD was faster than ever on Nürburgring Nordschleife

At the end of 2024, the Ford Mustang GTD showed all its power on the most famous track in the world, the Nurburgring Nordschleife, achieving the best time in the American production car category. However, a few days ago, the Mustang GTD showed that it can do better.

On the 20.8 km long track, the Mustang GTD set a time of 6 minutes and 52.072 seconds, which is 5 seconds faster than its previous record. How good this result is is also shown by the fact that the Mustang GTD is faster than the Porsche 918 Spyder, Porsche 911 GT3, Ferrari 296 GTB and Lamborghini Aventador SV.

After setting the first record, Ford realized that the Mustang GTD could give more. They started improving the chassis by increasing torsional rigidity, improving aerodynamics, upgrading the ABS and traction control system, and calibrating the powertrain. In the end, the result was impressive and deserved.

The Mustang GTD is powered by a 5.2-L Coyote V8 engine assisted by a mechanical supercharger with about 800 hp (597 kW) at 7,500 rpm, paired with an 8-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission that sends power to the rear wheels.

Ford announces upgrade for Mustang Mach-E

Four years ago, Ford introduced the Mustang Mach-E, its first crossover, and last year a refreshed version arrived with a range of over 900 km. Now the company is announcing a series of improvements for this model.

Since its arrival on the market, the Mustang Mach-E has started to achieve good results, and so far it has sold almost 100k Mustang Mach-Es. However, few could have expected that in 2024 it would surpass the legendary Mustang model in sales.

Ford has published a list of improvements that include three new exterior colors (Velocity Blue, Molten Magenta and Terrain), a black insert added to the front bumper as a limiter, a revised wheelbase. The GT version will get a new black front grille, while versions with the Premium package will get 19″ alloy wheels. All versions will get a heat pump.

The car’s interior will get a new interface for the Sync 4A multimedia system, and a change in the positions of some controls. The gear selector has been moved from the center console to the steering column, and the wiper and indicator controls have been moved to a single lever.
