Bugatti Tourbillon

In 2016, Bugatti presented one of the most powerful cars, the Chiron, which has reached its end. Now the time has come for Bugatti to enter a new era with a new model. Ladies and gentlemen, the Bugatti Tourbillon has arrived.

“This is the first completely new Bugatti in the last 20 years. The first that we at the new company Bugatti Rimac have completely developed, although we have already made models like the Mistral that were already based on the previous model with a double W16 engine. This is the first completely new , was developed in Croatia from start to finish,” said Mate Rimac.

At first glance, the Tourbillon has many similarities to the Chiron. However, it does not share any components with its predecessor. The horseshoe-shaped front grille is narrower, the C-line that divides the rear of the cabin is sharper, and the fenders are wider. It is equipped with subtle entry points at the headlights and C-line for air control, a carbon diffuser that extends under the rear half of the car allowing the rear wing to serve only as an air brake system. Also, the Tourbillon is 33 millimeters lower than the Chiron but also slightly lighter, despite having a 25 kWh battery that weighs 200 kg.

The interior, inspired by watches, leaves you breathless at first glance. Instruments such as a mechanical watch are mounted on the steering column, and the glass covering these instruments is made of polished sapphire crystal, an expensive material used by watchmakers for its scratch resistance. There is a small screen that can be folded, but also the softest leather that covers the entire cabin. All of this is customizable, and Bugatti is happy to match the Tourbillon for its customers to a specific watch or yacht they love.

“We’re trapped in the technology of our time. How do you make a car relevant to the year 2075 without looking ridiculous in a time that will have holographic displays or augmented reality contact lenses? Give the entire interior an analog way to interact,” said Frank Heyl, director of design at Bugatti Rimac.

When it comes to the powertrain, the Bugatti Tourbillon, unlike the Chiron, is powered by a naturally aspirated 8.3-liter cross-plane V-16 engine with 986 hp (735 kW) and 664 lb-ft (900 Nm) of torque combined with three electric motors (789 hp/ 588 kW) with a total power of 1,775 hp (1,324 kW). The new engine allows the hypercar to accelerate to 100 km/h (62 mph) in two seconds, 200 km/h (124 mph) in less than 5 seconds, while the speed of 300 km/h (186 mph) reaches in less than 10 seconds. Top speed is electronically limited to 446 km/h (277 mph).

Rimac said that the car has much higher performance than its predecessor. “I can say that 250 units will be produced, that delivery will start in 2026 and that we are already almost sold out. There are more customers than we will produce cars because we have only now shown the car to existing customers and there is already more interest among them than we will to produce cars,” said Rimac.

BMW agreed on a partnership with Rimac Technology

Mate Rimac posted on his Facebook profile that Rimac Technology and BMW Group have reached an agreement on a long-term partnership. This represents a milestone and the biggest and most ambitious project the company has had so far.

Rimac Technology manufactures electric drive systems and battery systems for global car manufacturers, and will now develop and manufacture high-voltage battery systems for BMW Group vehicles, which will be used in future models.

“For me, it all started with a BMW from 1984, which I started to convert to electric drive in 2008. At that time, it was my dream to work for BMW. This collaboration marks a key moment in the growth of Rimac Technology and is a clear sign of the transition from a high performance product provider for small series models (like Aston Martin Valkyrie, Pininfarina Battista, Rimac Nevere etc.) to a high capacity manufacturer for projects like this one with the BMW Group,” said Rimac.

Rimac Gropu is constantly growing. They recently opened Rimac Campus, showing that they are ready to deliver large projects for leading brands in the automotive industry. The project with the BMW Group is just one in a series, and the company says that talks about other similar projects are ongoing.

“Today, we are not only working with BMW, but together we are creating the future of their electric models – in Croatia, where battery systems for future BMW models have been developed and produced for the last two years, and now it has become public. A large part of the Campus is specifically intended for the production of batteries for BMW, which, together with other agreed deals, fully exploits it (we already lack space and are planning a new factory). It is not only the biggest deal in our history, but perhaps the biggest contract in the history of the country (at least I couldn’t find a bigger one),” Rimac wrote.

Rimac Nevera in the colors of the Dutch flag

The Rimac Nevera is one of the most powerful cars in the world, but also the fastest production electric car in the world with a top speed of 412 km/h (256 mph). It costs 2 million euros, and a few days ago one copy of this car was delivered to the owner in the Netherlands.

Rimac Automobili offers a wide range of body colors and the owner, Michel Perridon, decided to paint his car in a combination of Volcano Red, Polar White and Navy Blue, paying homage to the Dutch flag. The keys of the car were handed to the owner by Mate Rimac.

“I am excited to see more Nevera hitting the roads worldwide, and this particular example will surely turn heads. We’re delighted to see it in the hands of passionate enthusiasts like Michel Perridon. His ownership isn’t just about a car; it’s about being part of something groundbreaking, pushing boundaries together.”

The same color combination continues in the interior of the car. Sports seats are upholstered in a combination of Dark Blue leather and Red Alcantara with white stitching. Dark Blue leather covers the dashboard and one part of the door panel, while the steering wheel is wrapped in Red Alcantara.

Perridon was delighted with the car and the fact that the first Nevera in the Netherlands was his. “As a true Dutchman, I am immensely proud to have received the first delivery of the 2000 horsepower electric hypercar to the Netherlands. Being personally handed over this magnificent example of the Nevera by Mate Rimac himself, finished in the colors of the Dutch national flag as per my vision, is truly an honor. It’s a privilege to make history together with the Rimac team.”

Recently, Mate Rimac also received a personalized copy of his Nevera. He opted for an elegant and attractive design in burgundy color, with a black interior and red stitching. The car is decorated with several details such as the Croatian flag on the side mirrors, an embroidered silhouette of “Solinjanka” (women from the old town of Solin) in front of the driver on a dashboard covered in black Alcantara, personalized seats covered in red Alcantara with embroidered “K8” (Kate – dedicated to his wife Katarina) on the passenger and “M8” (Mait – dedicated to himself) on the driver’s seat, and a host of other emblems imported into the backrests.
