2022 Porsche 911 GT3 RS at the Nürburgring Nordschleife

In mid-August, Porsche unveiled a new generation of road-legal sports car 2022 Porsche 911 (992) GT3 RS with new aerodynamic and technological solutions. Now the car has shown its performance on one of the best racing tracks, the Nürburgring Nordschleife.

The Porsche 911 GT3 RS is powered by a naturally aspirated 4.0-liter flat-six engine with 518 hp (386 kW) and 343 lb-ft (465 Nm) of torque. The engine is paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch (PDK) transmission. It reaches 62 mph (100 km/h) in 3.2 seconds with a top speed of 184 mph (296 km/h). It is mounted on 20 and 21 inch forged light-alloy center-lock wheels wrapped in 275/35 R 20 (front) and 335/30 R21 (rear) Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2R tires.

The Nürburgring Nordschleife is a race track where all car manufacturers strive to show the best of their cars. The 20.8 kilometer lap, the Porsche 911 (992) GT3 RS covered in 6 minutes and 44.848, and in the longer configuration in 6 minutes and 49.328 seconds. That’s slightly slower than the Porsche 911 GT2 RS (6 minutes and 43 seconds) and the Mercedes-AMG GT Black Series (6 minutes and 43.616 seconds).

Porsche did not hide their satisfaction with the result. “Considering the far from ideal conditions, with a strong headwind on the long straight of the Döttinger Höhe and cool asphalt temperatures, we are satisfied with this time. The 911 GT3 RS is setting new standards for aerodynamics and the chassis. Never before has a road car embodied so much motorsport,” said the head of Porsche’s GT department, Andreas Preuninger. He previously said that around 500 hp is more than enough for a high-end sports car.

Also, Vice President model lines 911 and 718, Frank Moser was satisfied with what was achieved: “I’m incredibly proud of what the whole team has achieved during the development and testing of the new 911 GT3 RS. The 911 can still surprise us and proves that the rear engine concept is still supremely suitable for high-performance sports cars,” said Moser.

Mercedes-AMG One at the Nürburgring Nordschleife

In 2017, Mercedes began the story of the Mercedes-AMG One concept at the Frankfurt Motor Show, which was finally presented in June of this year. Now, the hybrid beast with a Formula 1 engine is ready to show its performance on the most famous race track, the Nürburgring Nordschleife.

The Mercedes-AMG One is powered by a 1.6-liter Formula 1 V6 turbo engine with 566 hp (422 kW) at 11,000 rpm. Combined with four electric motors, the One has a total of 1,049 hp (771 kW). That’s enough power for this supercar to reach 62 mph in 2.9 seconds, 124 mph (200 km / h) in less than six seconds with a top speed of 217 mph (350 km / h). The engine is paired with a 7-speed gearbox. And yes, the engine meets Euro 6 standards.

The Nürburgring Nordschleife is a race track where all car manufacturers strive to show the best of their cars. In order to set a new track record, the AMG One will have to be faster than the Porsche 911 GT2 RS MR lap time of 6 minutes and 43 seconds. Surely this will not be a problem for this super powerful car if we take into account the fact that the same distance was covered by the Mercedes-AMG GT Black Series in 6 minutes and 43.616 seconds.

Mercedes-AMG One was produced in 275 copies, and all of them have already been sold out. Each buyer paid $ 2.7 million (€ 2.34 million) for one of the fastest cars on the road.

Mercedes-AMG GT Black Series with 1,051 hp

The Mercedes-AMG GT Black Series is a beast on wheels. A super sports car powered by a 720 hp V8 engine is a wish of many. But there are always those who think the beast can do more, like RENNtech.

At first glance, it would be said to be a standard Black Series, which is not far from the truth. The American tuner company did not change the design, nor did it equip the car with additional aerodynamic components. Let’s face it, the aerodynamics of the standard Black Series are impressive.

RENNtech has done what it knows best. It has increased engine power, so now the 4.0-liter biturbo V8 engine has 1,051 hp (773 kW) and 831 lb-ft (1,127 Nm) of torque. The upgraded Mercedes-AMG GT Black Series reaches 62 mph in less than 3 seconds with a top speed of 219 mph (352 km / h). All this has been achieved thanks to new and larger turbochargers, a stainless steel exhaust system, new air filters and improved transmission control unit (TCU) so that the seven-speed transmission can handle extra power.

As a reminder, the standard Mercedes-AMG GT Black Series is powered by a 4.0-liter biturbo V8 engine with 720 hp (537 kW) and 590 lb-ft (800 Nm) of torque. It reaches 62 mph in 3.2 seconds with a top speed of 202 mph (325 km / h).
