1974 Porsche 911 Carrera RS 3.0 is up for auction

In 1973, Porsche introduced the 911 Carrera RS to meet motorsport homologation requirements. It had a larger 2.7L engine with Bosch mechanical fuel injection and revised and stiffened suspension, compared to previous models. However, for the 1974 IROC Championship, RSR models were fitted with the 3.0 engine, and were sold to racing teams. One example of this car, the 1974 Porsche 911 Carrera RS 3.0, was a demonstration car that was used to sell the car’s capabilities to potential buyers. Now it’s up for auction.

In 1974, the car was bought new by Sydney Butler, who after three years sold it to the owner of Stoddard Imported Cars, Charles Stoddard, who kept the car carefully garaged and maintained as needed. It remained in his possession for almost two decades, after which it was sold to a Japanese collector. In 2004, the car was sold again in the United States, and the new owner replaced the clutch and rear shock absorbers. In 2017, it was sold to a new owner, when it became part of the White Collection.

From the moment the car left the factory until today, it has maintained its original condition with its original white paint and gold-highlighted Carrera RS script. Also, it is equipped with original Pirelli tires, and the owner kept the car in the best condition with occasional correction of paintwork and the rims to factory specifications.

This Porsche 911 Carrera RS 3.0 is certainly the best preserved example of this model and is one of only 55 produced. It is powered by a 3.0L aircooled flat-six engine with 230 hp (170 kW) and 203 lb-ft (275 Nm) of torque. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a 5-speed manual gearbox. The five-digit odometer shows 29,452 kilometers (~18,301 miles).

The auction will take place on February 2 in Houston, TX, and the estimated value of the car is $2,250,000 – $2,750,000 USD.

Modified 1968 Porsche 911L is up for auction

In 1968, Porsche introduced the 911L Sportomatic model with the Type 901/06 engine. It was produced for only one year, and 1,610 cars left the production line, of which 441 were targa and 1,169 were coupes. One of them, a 1968 Porsche 911L is up for auction.

This modified 911L is powered by a replacement 3.0-liter Type 930/06 flat-six with twin Weber triple-barrel carburetors. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a replacement five-speed manual transmission. It is mounted on silver 15″ Fuchs wheels wrapped in 15/60 front and 18/60 rear Michelin TB15 racing tires.

The car is finished in gray and is in good condition. It has 911R-style bodywork and is equipped with a composite hood, decklid, doors, flared front fenders, Hella headlights with plastic covers, 911R-style taillights, a Talbot Berlin left mirror, gold-finished door handles, Lexan side and rear windows, T- handle hood and decklid latches, four-wheel ventilated disc brakes, tubular headers and an R-style sport muffler.

Inside, fixed-back bucket seats are trimmed in red vinyl with cloth inserts. In front of the driver is a leather-wrapped three-spoke Nardi steering wheel behind which is a five-digit odometer showing 1,391 kilometers (total mileage is unknown). Additional equipment includes an OMP harness for the driver’s seat, a latch-and-link belt for the passenger seat, leather door pulls, a dash-mounted kill switch, a helmet box stored behind the driver’s seat, and a TRE roll bar.

The auction ends on November 16 and the highest bid at the time of writing was USD $50,000.

The car does not have a title, as it is registered in a country that does not issue titles for road vehicles. It is being sold on its Belgium registration.

1968 Porsche 912 coupe is up for auction

With the end of production of the 356, Porsche became concerned that the price of the new 911, as their only product, could threaten the company’s financial stability. Therefore, it was decided to launch a new model based on the 911, the Porsche 912. It was produced between 1965 and 1969 when it was replaced by the 914. Over 30k cars left the production line. One of them, a 1968 Porsche 912 coupe is up for auction.

This Porsche 912 is powered by a 1.6-liter flat-four with dual carburetors, and factory 90 hp (67 kW) and 90 lb-ft (122 Nm) of torque. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a four-speed manual gearbox. Weighing in at 2,130 lbs (966,152 kg) it reaches 60 mph in 11.7 seconds with a top speed of 115 mph (185 km/h). It is mounted on 15″ Fuchs “deep six” alloy wheels wrapped in 185/70 Pirelli CN36 Cinturato tires.

The car is finished in Irish Green, and is in good condition. It is equipped with H4 headlights, a driver’s side mirror, bright bumper guards with rubber trim, black windshield wipers, a retractable antenna, single exhaust outlet, independent front and rear suspension, Bilstein shock absorbers and replacement PMB brake calipers.

Inside, the seats are upholstered in black leather that also covers the door panels and dash, with matching carpet. In front of the driver is a wood-rimmed four-spoke steering wheel and a five-digit odometer showing 78,388 miles. Additional equipment includes front seat headrests, replacement lap belts, rear vent windows, a Blaupunkt AM/FM stereo, a heater, and Coco Mats floor mats.

The car comes with a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity, the original purchase order, an owner’s manual, service records, spare wheels, a tool kit, and a clean Oregon title.

The auction ends on November 13 and the highest bid at the time of writing was USD $43,000.
