2023 Porsche 911 Hybrid powertrain

In November last year, Porsche CEO Oliver Blume announced that the company was working intensively on a hybrid model of the popular 911. It is a new generation of models from the 911 family (992). The car is currently in the final stages of testing, and should arrive on the market in 2023.

The design of the new 911 Hybrid is well known, as we could see it in spy photos. On the front bumper there are two large air intakes with vertical slats, while on the sides there are still unusual lights that we saw on other Porsche prototype models. At the rear, camouflage and snow hides a lot, but we can see the centrally placed exhaust pipes.

What has been unknown so far, and what could only be speculated about, is the powertrain. New information says that the car will not be PHEV, which was confirmed by Oliver Blume. This would mean that it will be equipped with a small battery, and that the owners will not have to plug in to charge the battery. Rumor has it that the Porsche 911 Hybrid could have over 650 hp (478 kW), but this has not been confirmed.

Porsche’s plan is that, by the end of the decade, the share of cars with ICE in sales will be only 20 percent. Also, Oliver Blume tickled the imagination by saying that there could be surprises with GT models when it comes to hybridization.

Porsche is temporarily suspending production

The current situation in the world is increasingly tightening the belt on the German economy. After stopping the delivery of vehicles to the Russian market, German carmakers have been forced to take drastic measures. Porsche is the first to announce that it is temporarily suspending production.

This will certainly deepen the problems with the supply of cars in the market. On the other hand, if the conflicts continue, there is a possibility that Porsche will extend the suspension of production. According to a post by Caleb J. Schroëter on his Twitter account, Porsche’s plan is to suspend production of the Panamera and Macan from March 2-11. After that, the production of Taycan (from March 2) and Cayenne (from March 7) was suspended. Production of the 718 Cayman will be suspended from March 14 and the 911 GT3 from March 17. An icon of the automotive industry, the Porsche 911 will be in production by the end of the month.

Confirming this information, a Porsche spokesman said: “In the coming days and weeks, we are working on a short-term basis and are constantly assessing the situation.”

This is a big impact on Porsche, but also on customers who expect the delivery of their vehicles. First of all, we mean the 1,100 Porsche cars destroyed in a fire on the cargo ship Felicity Ace, whose owners still don’t know when they can expect the delivery of their new cars.

We hope that this madness will end soon.

2022 Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS with beautiful engine sound

Four months ago, Porsche introduced the 718 Cayman GT4 RS as the fastest and most powerful Porsche Cayman. After showing his performance at the Nürburgring Nordschleife and GP Ice Race in Austria, now Matt Farah from the YouTube channel TheSmokingTire has shown how the engine sounds. He did not talk about driving impressions because members of the press agreed not to talk about driving impressions until March 22. Let’s enjoy the sound of the 2022 Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS.

It is made of lightweight materials, which reduces the weight by 28 lbs compared to the GT4 model on which it is based. It is equipped with improved adjustable suspension, and optimized adaptive aerodynamics.

The Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS is powered by a 4.0-liter flat six engine with 493 hp (368 kW) and 331 lb-ft (449 Nm) of torque. With a weight of 3,227-pound (1,464-kilogram) it reaches 62 mph in 3.4 seconds with a top speed of 196 mph (316 km / h). Power is transmitted to the rear wheels via a seven-speed double – clutch automatic transmission (PDK).

The Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS uses synthetic fuels, so Porsche has started building a factory for the production of eFuels. The factory will be built in Chile and is expected to produce around 130,000 liters of eFuels by the end of this year, which Porsche will primarily use in motorsport racing.
