Škoda Teases Vision O Interior: Sustainable Comfort Meets Minimalist Elegance

Škoda Auto is giving us our first taste of the future with a teaser revealing the interior of its Vision O design study. The automaker promises a blend of comfort, functionality, and sustainability, hinting at a bold new direction for its estate lineup.

The Vision O’s interior is the first glimpse of Škoda’s next-generation Modern Solid design language, emphasizing a customer-focused layout with clean, minimalist lines. According to Oliver Stefani, Škoda’s Head of Design, the goal is to “combine simplicity and sustainability with enhanced comfort.” And from the looks of it, the Vision O takes that mission seriously.

Spacious and ergonomic, the cabin is designed to put practicality first. Minimalist shapes and intuitive controls aim to create a sense of calm and safety, while the clever use of space ensures everyday usability. Unique 3D-printed headrests for both driver and front passenger add a touch of airy sophistication, enhancing comfort without cluttering the cabin.

Škoda is also making a statement with materials. Following circular economy principles, the Vision O incorporates plant-based and compostable components to reduce environmental impact. Uniform textures and finishes throughout the interior create a consistent aesthetic, while demonstrating the brand’s commitment to sustainability.

The Vision O concept is set to make its official debut at IAA Mobility 2025 in Munich on September 8. For those unable to attend in person, Škoda will stream the premiere on its YouTube channel, giving fans worldwide a front-row seat to the future of its estate vehicles.

With the Vision O, Škoda appears ready to redefine what a modern, eco-conscious interior can be—proving that sustainable design doesn’t have to compromise style or comfort.

Škoda Teases Vision O Concept Ahead of September Premiere

Škoda Auto has unveiled early details of its upcoming Vision O concept car, a striking new estate model set to make its global debut at the IAA Mobility show in Munich this September. More than just a design study, the Vision O offers a glimpse into the Czech automaker’s evolving identity—fusing its 130-year heritage with forward-thinking sustainability and a refined version of its “Modern Solid” design language.

At its core, the Vision O is a celebration of Škoda’s longstanding leadership in the estate segment, while also serving as a beacon for the brand’s technological and design future. “The Škoda Vision O design study will highlight the future trajectory of estate models under the influence of new technologies, sustainability, and the deep experience of Škoda Auto in this segment,” said Klaus Zellmer, CEO of Škoda Auto. “This will be one of our most significant steps in developing and evolving our design language even further for this period of transition in the automotive industry.”

A Fresh Take on a Familiar Formula

While Škoda is no stranger to practical and popular estate cars, the Vision O represents a new chapter. It retains the essential qualities that have long defined the brand’s wagons—versatility, practicality, and understated elegance—yet reinterprets them with modern aesthetics and sustainable ambition.

From the first glance, the Vision O impresses with a sleek silhouette shaped by aerodynamic principles: a steeply raked windscreen, a gently sloping roofline, and pronounced light contours all hint at efficiency and sophistication. True to Škoda DNA, functionality remains central, but now with a renewed focus on user experience and environmental impact.

The name “Vision O” itself stems from the concept of circularity—symbolizing Škoda’s dedication to minimizing the environmental footprint of vehicle development and production. Expect an emphasis on recyclable materials, modular design, and innovative packaging that aligns with the automaker’s growing sustainability goals.

Heritage Meets Horizon

Though forward-looking in its mission, the Vision O is steeped in the company’s rich tradition. Škoda’s estate car journey began as early as the 1920s with the historic L&K 110, which offered flexible body configurations. That lineage continues through icons such as the Octavia estate—first launched in 1960 and now the brand’s most successful estate with over 3 million units produced since its modern relaunch in 1998—and the popular Superb estate, introduced in 2008.

Other notable chapters include the 1101 Tudor Station Wagon (STW) with its then-innovative folding rear seats, and the versatile 1200/1201/1202 model family. The Vision O stands as a tribute to these milestones, while pushing Škoda into a future defined by digital transformation and ecological responsibility.

The Road to Munich

Škoda’s reveal strategy for the Vision O builds anticipation for its public debut in early September 2025. Positioned at the intersection of tradition and transformation, this concept will mark one of the most pivotal design statements from the Mladá Boleslav-based manufacturer in recent memory.

Stay tuned as Škoda continues to release updates in the lead-up to Munich. If the Vision O is any indication, the future of the estate segment is not only alive and well—it’s about to get a whole lot smarter, sleeker, and more sustainable.

Škoda Elroq RS Matt Grey Limited Edition

Škoda Auto has pulled the wraps off a striking new version of its all-electric SUV, the Elroq RS, now available in an exclusive Matt Grey finish. Limited to just 800 units, this special edition not only previews the brand’s future design direction but also marks a bold step into the world of premium matte paint finishes.

A New Expression of “Modern Solid”

The Elroq RS limited edition debuts Škoda’s Modern Solid design language in its most expressive form yet. The new Matt Grey body color immediately catches the eye, enhanced by glossy black details on the door handles, side mirrors, and rear roof spoiler. It’s a bold, dynamic look that amplifies the RS model’s already athletic proportions and electric performance credentials.

“We’ve been toying with the idea of matte paint for a while,” says Veronika Straškrabová, project manager for the Elroq model family. “We’re pleased that the first car painted like this from Škoda Auto’s Czech production plants is the Elroq RS in Matt Grey. Only 800 units will be produced in this limited series.”

The paint project was overseen by Maria Kertzscher, a color and trim specialist at Škoda, who emphasizes the complexity behind getting a matte finish just right. “Not every color works with a matte finish. We started with Graphite Grey, which is already visually striking, and retains its vibrancy even with the matte layer applied,” she explains. “The goal was to make the car look sporty, standout—even a bit aggressive. And we succeeded.”

Performance That Backs the Looks

The Elroq RS doesn’t just look the part—it delivers serious performance too. Powered by a dual-motor all-wheel-drive system, it produces a robust 250 kW (340 hp) and can sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in just 5.4 seconds. Despite these thrilling numbers, it retains the hallmark practicality expected of an RS-badged Škoda: usable range, comfort, and everyday functionality.

Official figures cite combined power consumption at 16.2 kWh/100 km with zero local CO₂ emissions, making it not only fast but also environmentally friendly.

The Craft of Going Matte

Behind the sleek exterior is a careful process of experimentation and quality control. Matching the matte paint across materials—especially between metal body panels and plastic components like bumpers—requires precision. “Colour matching is essential for delivering premium quality,” says Kertzscher. “It’s not just about how the color looks, but how consistent it appears across every part of the vehicle.”

Once considered a niche trend, matte finishes have steadily gained mainstream appeal—not just in automotive, but across design industries. Smartphones, fashion accessories, and now cars are embracing the understated sophistication of matte surfaces.

“I think matte finishes will become more common,” says Kertzscher. “And I hope the Elroq RS won’t be the last Škoda to wear one.”

A Collector’s Electric SUV

Škoda has yet to announce precise delivery dates, but the expectation is that these 800 matte-clad Elroq RS models will be claimed quickly—especially given the growing demand for unique, high-performance EVs with design distinction.

If the Matt Grey Elroq RS is a preview of what’s to come from Škoda’s electric future, then it’s a future that looks bold, fast, and anything but dull.
