Tesla security issues

After many problems that have hit Tesla in the past, now Elon Musk’s company could find itself in the biggest security problem so far. A young man from Germany claims that he found a weakness that enabled him to control Tesla’s cars from 13 different countries.

19-year-old David Colombo posted on his twitter profile that he used third-party API keys and software to gain access to the vehicles. He claims that car owners, not Tesla software, are to blame for his success. He said that he did not establish control over steering and acceleration, but what he did is still dangerous for car owners.

“Regarding what I‘m able to do with these Tesla‘s now. This includes disabling Sentry Mode, opening the doors/windows and even starting Keyless Driving. I could also query the exact location, see if a driver is present and so on. The list is pretty long. I think it’s pretty dangerous, if someone is able to remotely blast music on full volume or open the windows / doors while you are on the highway. Even flashing the lights non-stop can potentially have some (dangerous) impact on other drivers, “Colombo said.

He confirmed that Tesla had already contacted him, and that the company was investigating the case. He also said that he never had bad intentions and that his posts confirm that.

30 kg of dynamite for 2013 Tesla Model S and doll of Elon Musk

We will often see interesting, but also bizarre videos on YouTube, which obviously want to attract more views. One such video comes from Jaala, Finland, where Tuomas Katainen with 30 kg of explosives destroys a 2013 Tesla Model S with a doll of Elon Musk in the driver’s seat.

The reason for this “outburst of anger” is the problem that the owner of the Tesla Model S had. After 1,500 km, the error codes hit in. He ordered a tow truck to take his car in a service. After a month of waiting in a Tesla dealers workshop, Tuomas Katainen received news from Tesla that the car battery needed to be replaced ($ 22,480 / € 20,000).

Dissatisfied and angry, he decided on an unusual move. He drove the car to the former quarry, placed 30 kg of explosives on it, put the Elon Musk doll in the driver’s seat and completely destroyed the car.

The video has over a million views on the Pommijätkät YouTube channel. It was recorded in HD resolution, and a slow motion shot of the explosion can also be seen.

Road rage attack on Tesla in New Zealand

Every now and then, we witness attacks on Tesla drivers. Luckily, Tesla models are equipped with cameras.

Footage from New Zealand shows an inexplicable attack by a Mitsubishi driver. He tried to stop Geoff Gardiner in the Tesla Model X on several occasions with his Galant, offended by Geoff’s overtake. After failing in his intention, the driver of the Mitsubishi limousine, in a rage, decided that he wanted to ram Geoff! He sideswiped the Tesla, nearly losing control, and blocked Tesla. Gardiner tried to get away, but an angry driver closed the gap and both vehicles were immobilized.

That didn’t stop the Mitsubishi driver. He gets out of the car and angrily hits the glass of Tesla’s SUV with his hands, screaming and threatening Geoff. He even stops other drivers, not allowing them to leave the place.

Seeing that he can’t argue with the infuriated man, Geoff calls 911. Soon the police arrive and the Mitsubishi driver suggests that Tesla’s driver is to blame. The Tesla driver hands the video to the police, after which the police arrest the angry driver. He will be charged, among other things, for damages estimated at about $ 45,000.
