Is the 718 Cayman GT4 RS one of the all time greatest Porsches?

Late last year, Porsche introduced its fastest and most powerful Cayman, the Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS. We all know what he can do on racetracks and short distances, but how will he behave on long journeys and is this one of the all time greatest Porsches? Well, the answer to this question tried to give Henry Catchpole from the YouTube channel Carfection.

Henry Catchpole drove a Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS on over 1,700 miles (2,700 km) long road trip, from Portugal to Stuttgart. The car is made of lightweight materials, which reduces the weight by 28 lbs compared to the GT4 model on which it is based. It is equipped with improved adjustable suspension, optimized adaptive aerodynamics, central locking magnesium wheels.

He was impressed by the sound of the 4.0-liter naturally aspirated flat six engine with 493 hp (368 kW) and 331 lb-ft (449 Nm) of torque. The car weighs 3,120 lbs (1,415 kg) which is a 20 kg advantage over the GT3 model. It reaches 62 mph in 3.4 seconds with a top speed of 196 mph (316 km / h). Power is transmitted to the rear wheels via a seven-speed double – clutch automatic transmission (PDK).

The interior of the vehicle, made in a combination of leather and Alcantara, makes you feel warm. Beautifully designed comfortable carbon buckets are standard in the RS model.

During the road trip, he used different road conditions, just to test the car a little bit more. It was stable and controllable even when sliding. Satisfied, with a smile on his face, he enjoyed driving the mountain roads of northern Spain. What bothered him was the large rear wing that obstructed the view of the rearview mirror, and the price of magnesium wheels.

After three days, he ended his journey in the museum next to the beautiful original 718 RS.

2022 Honda Civic e: HEV for the European market

The Japanese car manufacturer has presented a new generation of Honda Civic e: HEV, which is coming to showrooms in the fall. With this, Honda has completed its range of electric vehicles for the European market.

Compared to its predecessors, the Civic first lost the diesel engine, and now in the 11th generation it is losing the classic petrol engine when it comes to Europe. The future rival of the Corolla, but also of European hopes such as the VW Golf and Peugeot 308, is offered exclusively in a hybrid edition.

The new Honda Civic e: HEV is powered by a 2.0-liter gasoline engine combined with two electric motors, which delivers a total of 184 hp (135 kW) and 232 lb-ft (315 Nm) of torque. Honda wants CO2 emissions reduced to less than 110 g / km.

The exterior of the car is similar to the American edition as the interior, while the wheelbase is 35 mm longer than the previous generation Civic. Inside, a 9-inch infotainment screen and 10.2-inch instrument panel, come with the best-equipped models.

For next year, Honda is planning two new SUV models, all-electric and hybrid. Honda says the all-electric model, as a blend of dynamics, technology and design, will be “a great option for families looking for their first electric car.”

Mercedes-AMG GT Track Series

Following the recent Mercedes-AMG G63 Edition 55 to celebrate its 55th birthday, the Affalterbach-based company has unveiled another limited version, the Mercedes-AMG GT Track Series. It is the most powerful car from the AMG family.

The GT Track Series is painted in a special shade of silver (Manufaktur Hightech Silver Magno) with red and anthracite details. It is equipped with carbon parts such as the bonnet with a large vent, a new front splitter, a new rear spoiler, fenders, sills, rear cover and rear bumper. Carbon fiber racing seats, a protective cage and five-point seat belts are part of the racing interior.

The Mercedes-AMG GT Track Series is powered by a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine with 724 hp (533 kW) and 627 lb-ft (850 Nm) of torque. The engine is paired with a sequential Hewland HLS 6-speed racing transmission.

Drivers can adjust the traction and anti-lock braking system with 12 levels of adjustment from maximum assistance to complete shutdown. It is also possible to adjust the brake balance back and forth.

It will be produced in only 55 copies, and the price of one car is $ 369,000. Deliveries of the GT Track Series will begin in the second quarter of this year.
