Toyota GR Corolla

After GR Yaris, Toyota and Gazoo Racing used the same recipe and created the long-awaited GR Corolla that will delight fans of pure C-segment sports cars.

The car is equipped with aluminum doors and bonnet. With the Circuit Edition package comes a carbon roof, but also Torsen differentials with a mechanically limited lock. Price and performance data have not yet been released, and the first copies should arrive in showrooms in the second half of the year. Unfortunately, the car will not be offered in Europe.

Under the hood will be an upgraded 1.6-liter three-cylinder turbo petrol engine (G16E-GTS) with 300 hp (221 kW) @ 6,500 rpm and 273 lb-ft (370 Nm) of torque. The same Gazoo Racing engine premiered at GR Yaris. Power is transmitted to all wheels via a 6-speed manual transmission with a ‘rev-matching’ function. It is mounted on lightweight reinforced 18-inch alloy wheels wrapped in 235/40 Michelin Pilot Sport 4 tires.

For efficient braking and stopping, there are brakes with 356 mm discs (front) and 297 mm discs (rear).

Koenigsegg and Rimac are working together on a new hypercar

The news that Koenigsegg and Rimac Automobili will work together on a new electric hypercar surprised many. Earlier, Koenigsegg CEO Christian von Koenigsegg said the company did not want to produce an electric car. However, his opinion seems to have changed after the news that Koenigsegg will work with Rimac Automobili to develop “Project Spöke.”

For now, there are no photos of the still unnamed electric hypercar. Koenigsegg seems to want everyone to know that Project Spöke is coming. The car will be powered by Koenigsegg’s electric motors. Those who are better acquainted with the events in Koenigsegg are familiar with the company’s inverter David and the electric motor Quark from the Gemer model equipped with Rimac batteries.

With the new car, Koenigsegg wants to improve its current offering. The hypercar will be equipped with a Rimac battery, and it is the same technology used for the Rimac Nevera and Pininfarina Batista models. The combination is perfect, and the 800-volt technology provides an impressive charging speed. Unofficially, the hypercar could easily develop 2,000 hp.

More information about the car is expected by April next year, and potential confidential buyers have already received teasers.

2023 Porsche 911 Hybrid at Nürburgring

A few days ago, Porsche announced its plans for the future, and one of them is the presentation of the first hybrid version of the popular 911. The Porsche 911 Hybrid is currently in the testing phase at the Nürburgring, and will hit the market in 2023.

After winter testing on the snowy roads of the north, the Porsche 911 Hybrid is currently on the Nürburgring Nordschleife. Spy photos show that this prototype has the same design as the previous ones. The front end with large air intakes and vertical slats, additional lights on the sides that should not be part of the final design, narrower arches, a smaller spoiler and centrally placed exhaust pipes are just some of the features of this prototype.

The car still bears a yellow sticker indicating that it is a hybrid. A few days ago, Porsche CEO Oliver Blume said that the car will not be PHEV. This could mean that it will be equipped with a small battery, and that the owners will not have to plug in to charge the battery.

When it comes to the powertrain, there is a lot of speculation. Some say it could use a naturally aspirated 4.0L engine like the one in the Cayman GT4. Some say it could have over 650 hp (478 kW). There is a lot of information, but only one is true. Which one? Only Porsche knows that.
