Audi e-tron GT

The Audi e-tron GT is a bold-looking electric car. It is expected to be a response to the Porsche Taycan. The production version has not been revealed yet. Some of its eccentricities are expected to be dialed back. The Audi e-tron GT will be introduced in 2021.

Audi plans to simultaneously present the production e-tron GT and its more powerful derivative GT RS. It’s no secret that both electric-powered Audi’s are based precisely on Taycan’s J1 platform with which they largely share proportions as well.

With similar dimensions to the Taycan, including its 114.2-inch wheelbase, the GT’s interior passenger space should be similar. Luggage can be stored in either the front trunk that boasts 4 cubic feet of volume or in the 16 cubes of space behind the rear seats.

Wide and low, the e-tron GT will fill the space between Audi’s A5 Sportback and A7 Sportback with its measurements. Batteries with a capacity of 90 kWh should provide it with at least 400 kilometers of autonomy, and the charging system (800V) will provide 80 percent of the battery capacity in just 20 minutes.

The e-tron GT looks unique and stands out on the street. This includes two separate electric motors that produce a combined 590 horsepower and provide all-wheel drive. In typical Audi fashion, the Quattro system can distribute power to individual wheels for sharper handling and improved traction. The company claims the e-tron GT will be able to hit 60 mph in about 3.5 seconds. A complex cooling method means its battery pack can handle repeated runs without compromising acceleration.

Volvo XC100

Volvo is preparing a new flagship SUV to replace the XC90. The new SUV from Volvo will carry the XC100 designation. It will be a direct rival to the BMW X7 and Mercedes GLS. This model is expected in 2021.

The new model is being developed under the code name V616. Number 6 marks the prototype as the largest model in Volvo’s offering. Number 1 means it is the first generation of vehicles, and the second “six” is an abbreviation for SUV body.

Volvo is developing a new version of the large car platform called SPA2. The current SPA platform is used for the 60 and 90 models. It is not suitable for larger models than the current XC90. The SPA2 platform will be intended for cars up to 5.5 meters long, and Polestar’s third model, a large all-electric SUV, will use it in the future.

The XC100 will be 30mm longer than the current XC90 and slightly longer even than the BMW X7. Its length will be 5.2 meters, and the wheelbase and rear suspension will be extended. The XC100 will have more legroom in the second and third rows of seats and in the boot.

The XC100 is likely to feature a mixture of higher-end powertrains from the manufacturer’s line-up, with entry-level editions using a high-powered petrol-based mild-hybrid set-up. The alternatives will be plug-in hybrid and fully electric propulsion.

The new flagship SUV has been made possible not only by buyer trends in key markets, including the United States and China, but also by Volvo’s improved brand strength.

Volvo’s CEO confirmed that the next 40-series model will make its debut in 2021. He said: “Next year there will be another 40-series Volvo, which will also be electric. So we will have electric cars to support our ambition to sell half of our cars as all-electric five years from now.”

BMW 128ti

The BMW 128ti is going back to its roots by creating car that isn’t as contrived as some of its other performance models. The ‘Turismo Internazionale’ designation was last used on the 1997 323ti. Now BMW 128ti is returning to its driving roots.

Unlike the previous one, the new 128ti has front-wheel drive, and some features are borrowed from the M135i xDrive flagship. These include an automatic transmission, stiff stabilizers, M Sport brakes and a detonated version of the same 2.0-liter petrol engine.

Being a front-wheel drive model, the powerful hatchback is BMW’s answer to the upcoming Volkswagen GTI TCR. It got an M Sport suspension that lowered it by 10mm to improve handling, and there’s also a Torsen differential with limited traction for better traction.

The model also comes with visual changes, from a more aggressive body kit, through a black kidney grille. Inside, you’ll find red trim, including on the backrests of the standard Sensatec/cloth sport seats. Red “ti” lettering is stitched into the centre armrest while red contrast stitching abounds. The standard equipment includes M pedals with stainless-steel caps, M door-sill strips up front and M seat belts. The sport seats are available as an option in perforated Dakota leather (in black with blue accents or red with grey accents). M sport seats with integral head restraints and extendable seat surfaces are furthermore optionally offered.

Enthusiasts probably won’t like the “fake” engine noise either. BMW’s first hatchback with front-wheel drive emits a fake engine sound to “enrich the sporty driver experience”. The headlights are dimmed, and this tone is accompanied by the side mirror housings.

The BMW has a four-cylinder engine with 262 hp and 400 Nm of torque. The BMW 128i accelerate from 0 to 60 in 6.1 seconds and reaches a maximum of 155 mph. The engine is paired exclusively with an eight-speed Steptronic Sport transmission, therefore, without a third pedal.
